HK P30SK

#1

Post by tms119 »

Well I had been considering the the glock 43 or Ruger lc9s pro. Then saw the P30SK. I like the g26 but the what kept me from loving it was the fact the grip was so awkward. I love my G19 but the G26 not so much.

Anyways. Decided on the p30sk and took it home today. I put 150 rounds down range without any problems. This is my first double action/ single action handgun and I must say I like it a lot. And Galco already has a holster which I will be purchasing shortly. Recoil is minimal and gun is more accurate than me.

One big con is the price of magazines. Once magazines are actually available it looks like they'll be about 50 bucks a pop. Though I did see a website that had p2000sk mags priced at under $40. So might get lucky.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

I'm also new to HK, and have had a lot of Glocks. I picked up a VP40 LEA and a 45 Tactical, and the mags for both are just crazy high. I've read that one big issue is that you can't get non-OEM mags for HK.

yup magazines for HK aren't cheap, and for a while it was near impossible to get the p30/vp9 magazines due to supply issues.

I havent checked out the p30sk yet because I know I will want one, I love the ergonomics of the P30/hk45/vp9 series but i just dont need another sub compact.

You may also want to look into converting to light LEM if you dont like the DA/SA

I've shot the P30 for a few years now. The mags for the P30, P30L, P30SK and VP9 (assuming all 9mm) are the same and interchangeable. The P30SK may have a shorter mag as well (I beleive I remember that correctly) but the P30 mag fits but extends out of the grip a little bit. I don't think the P2000, USP, etc. fit the P30x or VP9.

And yep, $45-50 is about right. They can be found online but I've had more success at gun shows. In my opinion, the price and limited availability of magazines is the only problem I've found with this group of guns. I love my P30.

Out of my small collection, the P30 is the family favorite - even when my teen girls were 11 and 12, they like shooting that gun much more than any other I have.

I've seen them for P30's on CDNN's website before. Think they were a touch under $50.

Congratulations to your P30SK. All 9 mm magazines from USP compact, P2000, p2000SK, P30 an VP9 will fit. The most comprehensive source for H&K parts is http://hkparts.net/.
There is a 30 round magazine available as well as several kinds of grip extensions. baseplates, springs and housings for all magazines. In other words, if something breaks you can order parts. Holsters designated for the P2000SK will fit the P30SK because it is essentially the same gun except the grip area.
I personally own a H&K P30 V3 since day one it was available. There was never a failure or flaw of any kind.
Have fun with your new toy.

Any HK is a lovely pistol. My HK is my first Pistol and I will never sell it. I just looked at the new 2X mag extension and I like it. I will order one just for the giggle and when we are allowed to have one in some PPM at DPC. :hurry:

Very interesting. This is more "acceptable" than 30 rds. I many not beta test the magwell, but I may got the +5 base plate for the 3rd Magazine of P30.

I might have to check more into that baseplate that would allow a pinky. Though I must say that coming from a Glock 26 to 30SK, I'm used to not having a pinky on the grip. Honestly the P30SK's biggest appeal was that it was similar in dimension to the Glock 26, but the grip was 100x more comfortable.

My duty weapon is an HK, with the LEM trigger. I hate it. Gimme a Glock instead, but I don't have that option.

if its normal LEM that pulls going to be hard, if its "light" lem it's the SA trigger pull every time but more takeup.
the heavy DA pull on HK is IMO terrible, not even close to the sig DA pull

The grip of the P30 got me and I bought it right away when it came out, around 05 or so. It surely gets better with increasing round count.
I guess the P30SK will become a popular carry gun which doesn't surprise me.
