Times haven’t changed all that much. Budgets are tight, and PDs typically provide little additional training for uniformed officers past the academy and periodic qualification.

It’s a shame. LEOs put their lives on the line every day in public service. But most can obtain serious, advanced firearms training only if they seek it out themselves.

Some instructors, like John Farnam, ask enrolled, paying students to contribute additional funds so that PDs local to the class can afford to send select officers to the course. I always contribute 50% of the course fee to this invisible but necessary cause.

...whether LEOs or soldiers...they deserve the best we can give them...and often, have to do with much less...
