Bulk Bullet Purchase: Anyone interest?

Post by Charles L. Cotton »

Dave and Steve have exchanged a couple of posts about the possibility of putting together a bulk bullet purchase from Montana Gold. I'm starting this as a separate post, so it will be easier to keep up with it.

Steve has graciously agreed to coordinate the purchase, if there is enough interest. As I understand, the minimum order size to get the price break is 8 cases and the amount in each case varies by caliber. This will be up to Steve, but I would think splitting a case would be a great deal of trouble. I coordinated a bulk purchase of over 2,500 pounds from West Coast Bullet and it was a lot of work. The guy who received the order had even more work to do! So, let's try to keep Steve's work to a minimum, but again, it's Steve's call as to whether he wants to split cases.

Steve will post more information on this, but I think the first step is to see if there is enough interest to pursue this. BTW, the bullets would be delivered to the Houston or Conroe area and would have to be picked up from there. (I suspect Steve’s home in Conroe.)

Regards,
Chas.

Prices listed on the MGB website for the 8 case price are shown below. I would not want to split cases at this point. All of the bullets would have to ship to one address then arrangements can be make for delivery or pick-up after they arrive. Prior to submitting an order I will confirm prices as they seem to be pretty volatile at this point.

9mm 115 gr FMJ $194/4000
9mm 147 gr FMJ $188/3000
357 125 gr JHP $200/3750
40 180 gr FMJ $176/2500
45 230 gr FMJ $163/2000

Looks like some pretty good deals. I have a couple of questions.

1. What quality are these rounds? Say compared to WWB.

2. Does the price include shipping?

These are just bullets, not loaded ammunition. These are very high quality bullets. I have shot them almost exclusively for years. At this point shipping to a private home is $5 per case but I will confirm that before any orders are finalized.

I'll leave this up until the end of the month then have Charles lock the thread. If we have 8 cases at that time, I'll call MGB and confirm the details. Then I'll PM everyone on the list and make the arrangements. IF we don't have 8 cases, we'll still try to do something.

I will try to recruit a little here. :patriot: I know one that maybe might take a case. His finances will be the decider. I will check w/ my son also. He shoots a .40 XD. He won't load but I will do them for him if he will buy the powder & bullets. I have the brass.

Steve:
You don't have 124 gr. FMJ 9mm, but I'll take a case of those, if you want to order them as well.

Steve:

Just wanted to say thanks for the effort and let me know the next time you're putting an order together.

Thanks Again-

Dave

We may have options and I am exploring possibilities. I assume (?) that each of you would settle for a thousand of the bullets you desire if that were possible instead of the cases.

Steve, I just saw this, I think my dad and I would buy at least a case each.

If you want to put it together again, give me a hollar.
