PA: County Commissioner tackles and shoots attacker

Post by seamusTX »

In Ross Township*, Monroe County, Pennsylvania (middle of nowhere), a man "allegedly" shot up a government meeting.

One of the commissioners tackled the shooter and shot the attacker with the attacker's handgun.

Three people are dead and three are in critical condition.

No motive is known.

*Rural parts of Pennsylvania (and some other states) are organized into townships for local government.

Guy has some courage.

Ross Twp is right next door to New Jersey. south of Delaware Water Gap. Very rural.

Eyewitnesses at the scene and state police identified the gunman as ... a self-proclaimed junk collector who has had a long-simmering feud with the township for keeping a junkyard on his property.

PA is a shall issue concealed carry state and CC is permitted in public meetings.

He emptied his gun and went to the parking lot to get another from his car. (Article did not say if he was a CHL, as you cannot have a gun in your car without a CHL) So most likely he was violating the law before he started shooting.

Sure you can. I highly doubt a guy coming to murder people was worried about whether it was legal to have a gun in his car without a CHL.

You can do anything that's physically possible, that you can get away with. You just take bigger chances when it's illegal. A lot of bizarre stuff goes on for a long time with no one noticing, like that creep who held the women in Cleveland for a dozen years.
