Renewal Application and fee paid on-line. Packet rec'd. Packet misplaced. Classes, prints, photo, and proficiency exam taken.
My instructors said that I needed to request a copy of the missing packet with my name specific bar code.
I was finally able to speak with with a blunt talking rep in the DPS. Replacments will not be forthcoming from Austin. They '...don't do that.' I was told when the packet was ordered, ammt paid, which credit card was used, but not the bar code number. Short version is that there will be no help from DPS.
The instructior again confirmed that the bar code would be needed for the good folks at Austin to process the app.
I know that someone out there has experienced something at least sorta like I mentioned.
Suggestions appreciated. Time is beginning to get a little tight.
Thanks,
salty

If you log back into the online application site, do you have a link that says "Show Receipt" at the top? If so, click that and there should be a button on the next page that says Print Checklist. That should have the barcode on it.
I don't know for sure if that will work for you because my current pending application is for the instructor certificate, but they both use the same online system so it's worth a try.

Ours wasn't a renewal, but we got an email where we could go print our bar code "receipt". If I recall we could reaccess that at any time. Good Luck!

Maybe I wasn't holding my feet just right, but, when I did all that, the screen gave me the good news that the licensing authority was waiting for the recipt of documents from me.
Still no bar-code or receipt.
I need those to complete the application. Apparently, the DPS needs those as well. What seems to be in a state of flux is they need information from me, and I need that same information so I can provide same to then.
There is no question that all was completed and paid.
Thanks.

You don't need photo's or fingerprints for renewal....

Cap'n, I appreciate the reply.
The thrust has to do with what to do if the 'packet' is gone. Austin isn't any help. Prints and an image of my good lookin' , trim, and studly self was part of the fee.
Point is, that I have done just about all that I can do. Austin needs info from me, and, to provide that, I need info from them.

Even if you have to send in what you have without the barcode, I can't image they wouldn't be able to match you up with your online application if you give them enough information to identify yourself, and maybe include a note explaining the situation. It would probably delay the process though.

Re: Packet with bar code misplaced, clock ticking...
I just got off the 'phone after speaking with a much more helpful person on the other end of the line at DPS.
Instructions were:
Send L-1 and a seperate piece of paper with current CHL #, Tx DL #, name (?), and a statement that the Checklist and bar-code were misplaced.
Money has been pre-paid, so there won't be a time lag for funds to clear a bank.
We'll see.
Thanks,
