Home invasion question
I know that in some states, you're not required to retreat from a home invasion, but there still has to be a threat before you can use deadly force. If somebody crashes through your front door, but just stands there and doesn't brandish a weapon or threaten you, you are NOT justified in pulling out ...

Re: A word about small CC guns
That's what I like about my P238: its a classic, 1911-style single-action. I can't stand the LOOOOOOOOOONNG trigger pull of DA or DA/SA semi-autos. Feels like the trigger on a kid's toy cap gun. Just a personal preference, of course, but that's my perspective.

Re: FTF or FTE during test?
Thanks, MAR, I'm looking forward to it. I appreciate the other answers, too. Still, though, no response to the original question. What happens if there's a FTF/FTE during the test? Do you do that part of it over, or go ahead and finish the test and just get scored "zero" for the segment wh...

FTF or FTE during test?
I'm taking the CHL class Saturday, and I was just wondering what they do if you have a FTE or FTF during one of those timed tests - 5 shots in 15 seconds, etc. Does it cancel the whole string, or does he "stop the clock," or let it run out? They say to bring a box of 50 rounds, which is th...

Re: A word about small CC guns
You are correct in noting that X degrees is X degrees, regardless of barrel length. The problem is, as was also noted, that a smaller sighting radius means that LESS barrel movement is needed to move the aiming point X degrees. At 20 feet, you will shoot approximately 4.2 inches off target for every...

Re: Where should I carry?
I don't think there's any "should." It depends on what's comfortable for you, what you like to wear, etc. If it's not comfortable, you won't wear it as often. I personally don't like IWB carry; it's too distracting, feels like, well, something inside my pants. And I don't think I can grab ...

Ancient Class C Misdemeanor - a problem?
I filled out the application online for the CHL, got fingerprinted and will take the CHL class next week. About 40 years ago, during my wilder, younger years, I got picked up a couple of times for public intoxication. It wasn't a big deal; I was just walking home instead of driving, and a passing LE...

Whoa. So basically you're saying that it doesn't matter WHERE it is - a police headquarters, hospital, FBI office, capitol building, whatever... if there's not an official notice, you can carry???C-dub wrote:...now they must post according to 30.06 or give effective notice some other way.

Re: A word about small CC guns
however if your having probs hitting bullseyes with that P238, practice more or have it checked out. My wife and I both carry one and unlike the polymer pocket guns I have carried, these are as accurate for me at 21 yards as a full sized. It really surprised me first time out. I don't have a proble...

Re: A word about small CC guns
Are you suggesting that we Aim? Sir, I'm not suggesting anything, sir. I'm telling you that even if you DO "aim," you still may not be able to hit the side of a barn with one of these pocket guns, especially in a defense situation, sir. :patriot: The purpose of the OP is not to reiterate ...

Re: A word about small CC guns
I remember the very first time I ever shot a "small" gun, a Charter Arms Undercover, a little .38 snubbie with a 2" (or maybe it was 1 3/4") barrel. At that time I had been doing a lot of Steel Challenge shooting with a 1911 with $2,500 worth of competition mods, and was pretty g...

A word about small CC guns
I have owned and carried all kinds of handguns, from big Ruger Blackhawks to 1911s to snubbie revolvers to my current baby, a SIG P238. I just wanted to make a quick comment, aimed mainly at those who are new to small guns. One thing to remember is that the barrels on these guns are SHORT: 1 1/2 to ...

Re: Signs for the CHLer
Hold on a minute. Isn't it irrelevant whether or not a "no guns" sign in a hospital is compliant, because carrying a gun into a hospital is illegal, regardless?
