Re: Drawing weapon to scare threat away

Reflect back in your life BEFORE you obtained your CHL and look at all the times someone has approached you with “clinched fists”. Someone walked away with a black eye or similar and the other with a boosted ego. The shear fact that no one was killed and we’re talking about this today strongly sugg...

Re: Amusing DPS encounter in Hickory Creek (Denton County)

Yup, there's a lot of amateurs out there who like to play police officer. I ran into a security guard who was the spitting image of a police officer. About the time he started getting confrontational I noticed captain bars on his shoulders...pretty odd. Then I took a closer look at his badge and saw...

Re: Martial law

Texas isn't like New Orleans, we're prepared, rational, and have laws forbidding this kind of behavior. And if things were so bad that the federal government took over, are they really gonna be worried about confiscating guns...and if that was in fact their goal are they really gonna breach on the g...

Re: Question on open carry for U.S. Military in Texas...

As others have said, there's exceptions for Federal military to carry. And as others said, this guy smacks of being a poser.

In the TXSG I have carried weapons in public twice. Once in a change of command ceremony and once for a funeral. Each time JAG was there to quell any issues.

Re: Maryland State P.O.'s Misconduct Raises Important questi

Given the circumstances I would believe I was staring at a police officer. If there was no marked unit behind me and I hadn't knowingly violated any traffic laws, that guy would have been one with his door about the time his hand went behind his back. As for whether or not the guy tried to hide his ...

Re: TX State Guard Fingerprint and BG Check

Yup, I'm in the process of joining and had to get my finger prints taken. My enlistment meeting is on the 18th. I've got all my transcripts, and fingerprint receipt on hand. I've also taken FEMA IS100 and IS200 courses. I'll take a few more before the meeting. Is there anything else I should be doin...

Now that you mention it, the first time I was pulled over the cop did ask for my SSN, and I said the same thing. He went ballistic, terrifying introduction to law enforcement.

I was also interested in joining the state guard and thought I'd bump this so it may catch the attention of others. Lots of good info here.

Re: Writing a letter to my bank, need arguments

I'm not calling it quits yet. If they just made a misinformed decision why shouldn't I give them another shot? I'll write this letter and see where it goes, if they tell me to screw off I'll write them another one letting them know why I'm taking my business elsewhere.

Writing a letter to my bank, need arguments

My bank (Cyfair Federal Credit Union) has always been CHL friendly. On the way in they always had the gunbuster sign and the signage about unlicensed possession. A few months ago I walked into my bank to make a deposit, I saw the unlicensed possession signage and kept walking towards the doors. At t...

Help - Need Gunsmith Recommendation (Houston)

My FN FAL is driving me nuts, I think I messed up the gas tube cleaning it...I've taken it completely apart a few times, dialed the gas for full recoil, made sure the plug wasn't set to grenade, etc, but it still doesn't have enough pressure to cycle the next round. I'm almost 100% that it is a gas ...

That really burned me up to read. They would get one warning, and that's all I'll say about that. I always carry a reliable semi auto with 15+1.

Re: Best Lawyer Quote Ever !!

The attitude expressed in the quote stems from Texas law enforcement, and has resulted in many civil rights violations in Texas over the years. The one that stands out the most for me is the case of Jose Campos Torres. Now, Torres was no saint, with a rap sheet five city blocks long. HPD cops threw...

Re: Shot placement is more important than caliber but...

I can see two issues for this that might need to be addressed separately. First, as someone pointed out full frame guns tend to be more controllable, but bigger calibers usually have more force and push further off target/have less capacity. This is why I went with 9mm and bought a P228. Huge capaci...

So there I was, glossing over the SC decision

and I came upon this part: In Muscarello v. United States, 524 U. S. 125 (1998), in the course of analyzing the meaning of “carries a firearm in a federal criminal statute, JUSTICE GINSBURG wrote that “[s]urely a most familiar meaning is, as the Constitution’s Second Amendment . . . indicat...
