I received something in email from the Texas Republican committee asking for my time, either making calls or going door to door up until the elections. I signed up for a shift, and will sign up for more if they don't get the response needed.
Thanks, Lonestar 48. You're a patriot, and I appreciate your efforts.

I've logged almost 1,500 calls (300 contacts) to date. I'm takin' a break; no calls from now until Monday.

From my very informal evaluation of those 300 contacts, Obama is leading the Greater Houston area by a wide margin.

I've heard some juicy words from Obama supporters when I identified myself as a Republican caller.

How can America be so seduced by Obama? How?

+1

Support your Second Amendment champions, the NRA and the TSRA, both the foundation organizations and the political action committees.

Look for ways to assist with grass-roots efforts like Friends of the NRA or become an NRA certified or CHL instructor.

Communicate with your Mayor, Governor, Senator, Congressional Representative, Vice President, and President. Don't be a voiceless constituent; let them know your values. Heck; run for office yourself.

Our Constitution and Bill of Rights weren't won by people who buried their guns and tried to go unnoticed by the government.

Re: What to do when Obama wins?

http://www.johnmccain.com/

Did I get all excited when John McCain first threw his hat into the ring? Nope. I was kinda hoping Fred Thompson was gonna make a big splash.

But realistically we have strictly a two-party race here in these last few weeks. Electoral votes will go to either Obama/Biden or McCain/Palin.

I do not trust Obama or Biden (that extends beyond Second Amendment issues), and am doing what I can to support McCain/Palin. One thing on the the McCain campaign Website is a system where you can volunteer to make telephone calls on behalf of the campaign. A basic script is provided, and the system will automatically feed you the next number to call based on your area code. Nifty technology behind the scenes, and a simple way to engage grass-roots participation.

So if you hear my melifluous baritone (ahem) on the line, be sure to use the code words "TXCHL Forum." I'm trying to spend an hour each evening making calls.
