I just reread my post , Dang ! I don't want to be a thread killer , this was a work related situation from 40 years ago . It's all good.............. post on !

I was working for Haney Drilling out of Bowie Texas on a thrible drilling rig as derrick man , we had finished the hole . The derrick was layed down and part of my job was to spool all the guy lines up to tie to the derrick to move it . I was inside the layed down derrick spooling and tying lines , a gin truck was backing in to get a winch line on to seperate the derrick sections . An old hand named Bill was Hairpins out of the big pins that connected the sections of derrick together . I hollered and told him a truck was backing in , he was an old hard head and payed me no mind . I heard a weird sound behind me and turned around , the rolling pin on the gin truck had mashed him against the derrick leg . Cought him chest high and there wasn't 4'' of him between the tailboard and derrick , totally crushed his chest . I ran over , reached over the derrick leg and got my arms under his holding him up . I was screaming like a woman at the truck driver to pull off , he finally heard me and pulled up , several roughnecks ran up and lowerd Bill to the ground but he was dead as soon as that gin truck mashed him . Felt sorry for the driver , he was a good guy , just a bad deal .

I saw one other die and many badly hurt , it was just the way it was , we all knew the risks .
