Re: HB 121 - Requires oral notice for 30.06 and 30.07

Can somebody explain this one to me...? It looks like a clarification amending subsection H but I can't determine what exactly its doing: https://capitol.texas.gov/BillLookup/History.aspx?LegSess=86R&Bill=HB121 A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT relating to a defense to prosecution for the offense of tre...

Re: Truck broken in to, pistol stolen...I’m mad at myself

I use Parking Spot as well. In the mid 90's I would park at the airport. One night I went to get my truck only to find my tailgate stolen. I went to DFW PD and they laughed and said "we got another one stolen". I did not think it was funny. Ever since I have parked offsite. Same here in Austin (Par...

Re: Campus Carry: Move in day

That web page is well written. My sons attend Texas A&M and I have been carrying there without a problem. Your daughter's school is part of the A&M system. You will be fine. +1 moved my Freshman son into A&M this last week. Reviewed their guidance (which was very well written) and carried according...

Re: Alamodome and DCI?

my son is a member of the corps and receives nothing of value other than the experience) I would say not a proffesional sporting event. More like a concert or other show. On a side note, what troop is your son with? We have friends that their son is in his 4th year and is lead snare for Santa Clara...

Re: Alamodome and DCI?

Went to Alamodome yesterday and don't recall seeing any 30-06 signage anywhere going into the building. No wanding. Only checking purses and bags. I had secured my 1911 in the vehicle (MV 500) in anticipation of not being able to enter. BTW, got me thinking again about how my 2A rights apply everyw...

Re: Poll: Nonresident Out of State License

How many of us have obtained a nonresident out of state license? If you do, please comment on why you felt the need and which state(s) you decided to get. Maybe it was because you travel on the job, or maybe because of personal travel. I have family in New England and am considering some nonresiden...

You are correct that it's legal. I have carried in my vehicle in Illinois, but have not interacted with law enforcement.
Carry meaning loaded/concealed correct?

Illinois Car Carry

It appears to me it's not illegal to carry in a vehicle in Illinois. (reference below). Has anyone traveled thru Illinois with a handgun and interacted with Law Enforcement? I'll be doing a road trip this summer and passing thru Illinois. Nothing in this Act shall prohibit a non-resident from transp...

[quote="RoyGBiv] ... Respectfully... There is nothing in that post that comes from the new bill. All of your worries are possible in current law. Please... Show me NEW infringements in the NEW bill. There are none, AFAIK. Exactly right. The Bill does not add one single grounds for denying Second Am...

Re: Interstate Handguns.

I hope it passes so I can drive the 11 miles thru Maryland on I81 on the way to PA. :) If all this gets us is the ability to carry (with a license from your home state) in a car, that would relieve an enormous inconvenience for me personally as I drive in NY, NJ, MD every summer when visiting famil...

Re: Cannot Be Recovered By Any Other Means

One of the videos I watched about this also expressed a concept I wouldn't have thought about - it suggested 'cannot be recovered by any other means' could apply to the fact that you couldn't physically stop them stealing it without using force - ie you were wearing flip flops or high hills and wou...

Re: HB 560 - Holy Grail?

I emailed TSRA about this, and got a nice reply. HB560 is old legislation that has never gotten any support. My wild guess is that legislators must look at HB560 as going too far, and CC is just eliminating government prejudice against the unlicensed. My wild guess. TSRA didn't say that, I'm just t...

Re: What is status Restoration of Gun Rights in Austin?

I'm sure constitutional carry will dominate the next session regardless of whether 1911 manages to pass. There will continue to be a push for expand unlicensed 'rights' at the expense of any initiative around off limits locations. My last ditch hope this cycle had been an amendment to 1911 somehow ...
