Re: Your Longest Shot

Went to the panhandle a few years ago on a prairie dog shoot. We were not exactly ranging them, but I made a few shots past 800 yards. I was using a AR15 in .204 Ruger with a Shileen 24" barrel and 24x scope.
Did you or somebody get a general range reference with a rangefinder, or was 800 a ...

Re: Would you search for a shooter?

Hasn't happened so I can't say with 100% surety. But I believe I would go toward it. Especially if it was at a school or other place with lots of children. I would hate to live with myself if there was a possibility my action could have saved innocent kids lives.

I have trained and prepared myself ...

Yes to all.

Pretty much the only time I do not carry is when I go to the airport to head overseas.

Re: Dry Firing a loaded gun....not smart

I decided that I wanted to dry fire a dozen or so times before I started shooting. .

I understand dry fire practice at home but why at the range?

Dry firing between live firing is an excellent way to reinforce proper habits, and also to calm down if you catch a flinch or jerk at the range ...

Re: AAR Civilian Response to Active Shooter course at CSAT

No problem. First time I felt I had something worthwhile to add to the forum. I generally am a lurker on most forums I visit. On Texas Gun Talk I believe I have about 300 posts in almost 5 years, and that is the forum I spend 90% of my time on.

AAR Civilian Response to Active Shooter course at CSAT

First a little background about me. I am 38 years old, and have been carrying a concealed handgun since I was 21 and able to get the license.

Over the last few years I have attended three other courses at CSAT taught by Paul Howe. Tactical Pistol Operator, and Tactical Rifle Operator (twice). This ...
