Re: Proposed: Texas require all motorists to carry yellow safety vests in their vehicles

I'm too lazy to go look up this bill (which is nonsense), but I wonder if vest requirements take into account existing requirements? There is already a federal rule that requires police, firefighters, and roadworkers to wear reflective vests on federally funded highways. If I recall correctly, the e...

Re: Collin College instituting school marshals?

It's very possible that the person writing the article did not understand that there is a difference between the 2 models. While I would have preferred the guardian model (less cost and less restrictive on the district), I will admit that it's better than hockey pucks or river rocks. That being sai...

Re: Collin College instituting school marshals?

Very interesting to hear. I wonder why they went with the School Marshal Program? That is very restrictive compared to the Guardian Program model. Also, the linked article contains this : "The school marshal program is implemented in 170 public school districts …" That's not true. Last I looked, the...

Re: Amazing Pictures of the WWII Atomic weapons

Those are excellent pictures, nice find. Some really good views of Thin Man, Fat Man, and Little Boy. Especially like the color photo. Most of the enlisted guys working on the bomb look like pictures of my Dad when he was with the Army Air Forces in the Pacific. He said it was so hot and humid the s...

Re: USS Ward and the First Shots of Pearl Harbor

Here's another sidelight on Pearl Harbor: Niihau Incident . Basically, a Zero pilot crashed on a small island. Islanders held him, but locals of Japanese descent helped him escape, destroy papers, and take hostages as he tried to make contact with the Japanese ships. The incident may have played a ...

USS Ward and the First Shots of Pearl Harbor

In honor of the defense of Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, I'm posting an excellent little historical video by The History Guy on YouTube. The History Guy presents short (usually less than 15 minutes) videos on various historical events that may have slipped out of the mainstream of historical cons...

Re: Alligator defense question

As a result of Nesbitt v USACOE, the USACOE is supposedly reconsidering the regulations pertaining to firearms, in particular licensed carry. Recall that in Nesbitt, The Ninth Circuit issued an injunction against enforcement of the Regulations for bidding carry firearms on corps of engineer lands. B...

I’d trade authorizing a smaller sign for eliminating the criminal penalty for trespassing it.

Re: Hunt ISD teachers can now carry

Curious if any of these institutions have adopted a blanket policy of allowing all licensed staff to carry and how many require almost impossible hurdles to get “approval”. As noted in the above thread as far as is known all but one of the schools that have armed, non-leo, staff, use the Guardian p...
