Re: TX Attorney General Opinion on municipal regulation of gun sales

… Quoting that article: “For them to be able to tell us from Austin that in Galveston the citizens can’t decide where they want to have a gun range or that they don’t want a gun range next door to their schools is amazingly outrageous.” I have no direct knowledge of this, but what are the odds that...

Re: TX Attorney General Opinion on municipal regulation of gun sales

Aggie_engr posted this story over in another thread about Waller County, but since it pertains directly to this thread and ties up the story very neatly, I will put it here as well:

Re: Shadow Systems MR 918 Elite

John Farnam is at the SHOT Show in Vegas and gave a positive review to a newer model Shadow Systems pistol, so I looked up their website. They are now offering a MR920 as well as the original MR918. They tout a bunch of improvements over the 918 based on customer comments from the last year. Among t...

CA: Robber's bullet ricochets, kills fellow robber

San Francisco Happened before Christmas. ***ETA: Happened before Christmas 2013. Just noticed that, but still interesting, would've posted it anyway. Four juvenile thugs rob man on street. Man complies and forks over cell phone and everything else, but one of the idgits pulls a handgun and shoots hi...

Re: 30.06 Ruling Letters

Having read the entire brief once and some parts more than once, here is my summary: (Recall that the City had a 30.06 sign posted until Cargill’s 1st complaint. The city took it down But replaced it with a circle-slash over a handgun symbol, which the AG calls them “interdictory circle.”) 1. The AG...

Re: 30.06 Ruling Letters

The law about government entities illegally barring licensed carry provides for up to $1500 fine for the first violation and up to $10,500 fine for subsequent violations. I had a question about that in one of the threads on this issue, about what constitutes a second/subsequent violation. IIRC someo...

Re: 30.06 Ruling Letters

Another extract: Issues Presented 1. Texas Government Code § 411.209(a) bars “communication[s]” or “sign[s]” wrongfully communicating that a license holder may not bring a handgun onto government property. Does that proscription include posting a sign that depicts a gun inside an interdictory circle...

Re: Waller County

I don't think the AG is being lazy, and I would prefer that he get this particular case (Paxton v City of Austin) right because it will set precedent for how licensed carry is handled in courthouses throughout Texas. The speed of which the case advances is mostly at the mercy of the judges hearing t...

Re: TX: Dallas LTC holder fends off robbers at home cookout

Unless there is a significant element to this story that hasn't been reported (like a drug deal gone bad), I don't think the LTC'er has anything to worry about from the law.
