Re: Best Gun for Home Defense

I’d be OK with pistol, AR, or shotgun, but my biggest fear is actually doing more damage to my hearing by discharging a gun inside my house, which is why my primary HD weapon has become a suppressed G17 loaded with 147 grain subsonics. All my ARs can also be suppressed, but they’re still a lot loud...

I don’t understand the discussion about a run of the mill CHL holder. This man was an armed Security Guard paid to keep the bar peaceful. He was doing his job!

Re: Best Gun for Home Defense

I worry more about setting up a “ kill” zone. Frankly , I could be using a pellet gun and a Bad Guy is not making it in my bedroom.

Re: IL:Security Guard holding bar shooter on ground shot and killed by police by accident

There are also reports that people were shouting that the deceased was Security. I think we have a tragic mistake made by an Officer who has never learned to ID your target before pulling the trigger. I read that also and my first thought was of how people screaming "He is a security guard" may hav...

Re: IL:Security Guard holding bar shooter on ground shot and killed by police by accident

Coming up on a scene with people still around and a guy subdued with a knee in his back and a gun drawn on him would not make me pull out a gun and shoot first. There are also reports that people were shouting that the deceased was Security. I think we have a tragic mistake made by an Officer who h...

Re: IL:Security Guard holding bar shooter on ground shot and killed by police by accident

I was taught that the only reason for a CHL to draw his or her weapon is to fire it immediately. This is one of the hundreds of bad outcomes associated with trying to be a junior LEO. They have vast advantages in backup, arms, public perception, and legal recourse and possibly also training. We hav...

Re: owb holster for 1911

For kydex I like RDR holster. They even have a special with 2 free mag holder right now with the purchase of a holster. My last IWB holster was under $50 including shipping.

He was not the average CHL holder, he was a SECURITY GUARD with additional responsibilities. Obviously he was not a sheep.

Re: IL:Security Guard holding bar shooter on ground shot and killed by police by accident

I am surprised nobody has pointed out that had the security guard shot the BG rather than tried to detain him he could then have holstered or laid down his weapon before LEO appeared, in which case he would probably still be alive. Therefore if the situation does permit the use of lethal force mayb...

Re: Alcohol and self defense

The most I drink is splitting a beer on the front porch swing with my wife as we watch the cats play. I stay armed and just split no more than two beers per evening.

Re: Truck broken in to, pistol stolen...I’m mad at myself

Back in the early 80s I had a model 37 and a fleece vest stolen from my truck. It was a major effort to get the Police to investigate. Even though they pullled clear prints of my truck they gave me 0% chance of recovery. ‘M just glad the thieves did not open the glove box and find the Woodsman. The ...

Re: Truck broken in to, pistol stolen...I’m mad at myself

I was fortunate and there is very good security at the El Paso airport short term parking. I screwed up and left my drvers side window down on a 4 day trip. When I returned, all I had was a dusty car. Pistol and knives were untouched.

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

Exactly! People who have yet to finish high school, never had a job or any other familial responsibilities and otherwise, don't know Snit from Shinola are allowed to vote. Absolutely. I think lowering the voting age to 18 was a huge mistake. Needs to be 25. Actually you are correct. Look at the ins...
