I think that this trend started a long time ago. In the sixties, I remember a couple that was anti-self defense. The guy owned guns and was a duck hunter. One day he stated that he would never shoot a person. I asked about whether or not he would use a gun to defend his [then] girlfriend. He said, "No!"
They are still married. I wonder if they feel the same way?
