Re: Opinion on gunsmith situation

Put them on blast in public. Do you trust their ability to fix their screw up, this time knowing that it's all on their dime? I'd get a new slide and take it to someone who isn't bad at gunsmithing.

Re: ATF ruling AR and AK pistols are now AOW!

This ruling, more than anything, points out how useless the SBR and suppressor portions of the NFA are. If one is or aspires to be a criminal, then he or she can make an SBR in 30 minutes (or an SBS in maybe 5). If one doesn't have the parts, it's a max of a 1 week wait to get them. The ease of that...

The shellback ceramic/PE hybrid plates are level IV rated and surprisingly light. The Banshee II is comfortable, but is big for smaller folks.

Re: Joe Biden

I have a bizarre take on this. I think that Biden almost certainly wins, and that it will ultimately help us. The electoral math basically puts Biden in the White House, and that makes holding the Senate absolutely vital. A pro-2A USSC and Federal judiciary and 50 seats in the Senate will radically ...

Re: I said something stupid

I think that the better lesson is to think about how we speak to each other carefully, and that the consideration of how our words reflect on who we are and want to be stops our language well short of something that could be construed as a threat. I'm working on thinking of what I want to get from a...

Re: Scales

Some crazy benchrest shooters use lab analytic scales, but my feeling is that the point of diminishing returns for powder charge weight consistency probably doesn't require better than +/- 0.1 grains.

Re: Infographic: Covid vs other pandemics in history

One huge issue in this comparison is that the number of people who died from COVID is drastically reduced compared to say, the Spanish Flu because our ability to help patients with respiratory disease and dysfunction has advanced from "a comfortable bed and prayers" to "a comfortable bed and prayers...

Re: Heavy vs Light Bullets in Short-Barreled 9-mm Pistols

I use heavier bullets in general (for higher BC in rifles, for better performance for a given barrel in pistols, and for better patterns at range in shotguns), but in particular in shorter barrels given the greater inertia resisting the initial impulse from the powder which should result in a greate...

Re: AMMO. Buying, selling or nothing

I bought a G19 and built a BRN-180 at the start of this madness for the purpose of buying rather than reloading ammo. That plan immediately died, but I'm stocked on components (and just picked up a bunch of 9mm range brass). I'm saving all of my 5.56x45 brass, but I turn that into 7.62x40 cases. For...

This behavior only stops when it is punished. We have to collectively remember and refuse to buy from them when times are good.

Re: KT: Louisville woman killed by police after serving a no knock warrant. CHL boyfriend fired at plainclothed officers

The circumstances of this tragedy are of relatively minor importance compared to the broad societal issue at hand: we send cops with guns drawn in the dead of night to citizens' homes to confiscate contraband. Breonna Taylor, the Tuttles, and innumerable other people have been and will continue to b...

It is possible for hackers to turn the camera on remotely. Agree, but that's a separate problem. If a malicious user has that level of control of your PC, then the use of your camera is the least of your problems. I prefer Fedora, though I run into the issue of most distributions working variably o...

Re: oh I like her!!!

The Republican party will die if it doesn't visibly offer a path to wealth and success to everyone. Today, the top 10% of earners own 87% of the securities outstanding: historically that kind of wealth imbalance has ALWAYS led to revolution. People want to be independent and hold their heads up, but...
