Re: CHL (LTC) Renewal Question

FWIW, I was able to renew on line about 6 days after the 6 months out had come up. I got the notice in the mail a few days after that. I received the renewal LTC today. So just under 3 weeks from when I did the on-line thing. Also, all I have on file are the old ink fingerprints, but they apparently...

Re: CHL (LTC) Renewal Question

FWIW, I called today because it still does not give me the option to renew on line. I was told that you have to wait until you get the renewal notice AND that it could be anywhere between 5 and 6 months before it's the renewal that it is sent out. In other words, you can't automatically do it on lin...

Re: CHL (LTC) Renewal Question

I was just going to ask this same question (no option to renew), but I am actually under the 6 months by a couple of days. Guess I will try again in a few days.

Wow, I didn't even know there was a hunter education course. :headscratch I had to Google it to find that people born before Sept 2, 1971 are exempt. :read:

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

I filed for renewal less than two weeks ago (as soon as I entered the six month window). I'm a veteran so HB16 doesn't impact me but I suspect a number of people who are up for renewal OR are doing the initial, are waiting until Sept 1. I hope you can get it within 60 days if apply after Sept 1. BT...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

So do seniors pay the $40.00 or the $5.00 as listed here? SECTION 6. Section 411.195, Government Code, is amended to read as follows: Sec. 411.195. REDUCTION OF CERTAIN FEES FOR SENIOR CITIZENS. Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, if an applicant for the license is 60 years of a...

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

I think he meant that the 61st (and all subsequent) person to renew each year gets the lower rate. Who would have thought that? Geeze, links to the text of the bills are posted several places include in this thread. :rules: So to clarify - the renewal fee for those people who ore over 60 years of a...

Unless I missed something it did not change the renewal fee for the elderly.

Re: HB1911 Com Substitute

One shred of hope was that my rep talked to me yesterday and he told me not to write it off just yet, that there is a chance still that a heavily amended version of 1911 will go through. Heavily amended is what scares me. Like making all gunbuster signs carry the weight of the law for everyone, and...

Re: Sb1588 to eliminate most vehicle inspections

Hm - can someone enlighten me as to whether this bill just eliminates the 'safety inspection' component of the annual check, but leaves the smog test intact? If so, we're still trooping off annually to ensure compliance with smog, it's just the bald tires/turn signals/horn/etc that'll be dropped. S...

After reading the latest text, what is the status of the honorably discharged veteran fee? I did not see it mentioned.

Re: Background check question - credit files

I would not be concerned about the credit freezes but I would be concerned about unknown warrants or taxes you are thought to owe because of Identity theft. Mine seems to be strictly related to opening or trying to open credit card accounts. I have a credit monitoring service but that only alerts y...
