Misdemeanor DV conviction

It seems that whenever a new crowd finds out I'm an instructor I get tons of questions about licensing. I had someone ask me last night at a Super Bowl party about a DV disqualification. He had a Misdemeanor DV in 1992. He wanted to know if there was a time frame where it wouldn't be a disqualificat...

Re: The war with Iran

Did he have the quote - we have awakened a sleeping giant. Older friend went to Pearl Harbor many years back. On the boat to the Arizona he sat next to a solemn Japanese man and his wife. He asked why he was coming here. To pay my respects. Because of this event many of my friends and relatives die...

Re: TX: Dallas LTC holder fends off robbers at home cookout

Ironically enough, my wife just gave me grief for carrying during a barbeque at my house. My daughter is headed back to college today, so I decided to smoke a brisket for her on Sunday. My wife took a picture of me carving up the meat, and posted it to Facebook, where she immediately got comments b...

Re: Any pilots in here?

What airplane did you like best. I learned in a Cherokee 140 back in 1967. I have always preferred a low wing over a high wing. Where are you taking lessons? I was given the advise from a friend to learn on the low wing. He said that flying low wing would prepare me better for other aircraft I'd fl...

Re: Any pilots in here?

I finished my second flight lesson today. First was in an Archer II, instructor did the take off and then handed me the controls until landing. Second was in a 172N, I did the take off, and hand controls until the landing. Instructor simulated an engine loss landing. We coasted from 10 miles out.

Re: Jeffery Epstein arrested in NYC for sex trafficking of minors

I read a lot of reports about the woman who helped Epstein. And the search for her. I'm betting she won't be found. Not alive anyways.

What you're describing is "Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design" (CPTED). Here's a pretty good free reference, followed by a more succinct article summarizing key points: https://www.chandlerpd.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Chandler-C3-CPTED-Handbook-2016-1.pdf https://westseattleblog.com...

Hill Country Instructors

Anybody in the Hill Country looking for another instructor to do their shooting with?

I need to re-qualify, would be willing to meet up and shoot with other instructors to get it knocked out.

Re: New IRA

It's a long game. The thing is you want to spread out your investments. SPY is great, so is QQQ in NASDAQ as these funs initially build (mostly by your regular payments). Two important things: Investing on a regular bases (Same amount every payday) is smart. Your buying more when he market is down,...

Re: New IRA

Three days is hardly a sufficient time to judge the merits of an investment in the stock market. Stocks go up, they go down, they go sideways. History shows that in the long run you're much better off to invest and stay invested. Scott Burns was a columnist for The Dallas Morning News and his studi...

Re: New IRA

No, I was joking that I'm going to set up a fund for those who want their IRA's and 401K's to continue to appreciate in value to contribute to to keep me from investing in the market. As every time I invest in the market it seems to go down. As an alternative I could give them three days notice befo...
