Thanks for your view on this. I didn't mean to imply that NRA has concealed handgun classes; I meant to say what I corrected above in red - that we could not even carry a loaded concealed handgun into the class. It just seems that they are saying CHL holders are responsible, law-abiding citizens, but they pose a danger to our classes. I think this would be an easy position for the antis to use against us.Charles L. Cotton wrote:The NRA does have a "no live ammo" rule for the classroom portion of its classes. There are no NRA "concealed handgun classes." Remember, the NRA classes are "basic" classes for people who have little or no shooting experience in the particular shooting discipline. The exceptions are the two Basic Personal Protection classes, but even those are considered "basic" classes.MasterOfNone wrote:At a recent NRA instructor class, we were informed that NRA prohibits anyone bringing live ammo into an NRA class, even inside of a concealed handgun. Is that what others have been told? If so, then I think they should apply everything said in the video to their own classes:

"Whenever we can expand the universe of places they can arm themsleves for self-defense, all Americans are safer."
If the decision were mine, I would not prohibit live ammo in the class, but there is a big difference between carrying in a college classroom where a CHL won't be taking his/her gun out and carrying in the classroom portion of a handgun class where guns will definitely be handled by students.

At a recent NRA instructor class, we were informed that NRA prohibits anyone bringing live ammo into an NRA class, even in a concealed handgun. Is that what others have been told? If so, then I think they should apply everything said in the video to their own classes:
"Crime isn't limited by school boundaries, and neither should our right to protect ourselves be"
