Re: Anti gun measures in Texas for 2021
Well, When they take they oath to defend the Constitution, I suspect that it's to defend the Constitution as a "living document meant to be interpreted through a modern liberal lens" rather than to defend the document as it is strictly written down with definitions as they were at the time...

Re: Which Pistol-Caliber Lever-Action is Most Durable/Reliable
Henry in either 357 or 44mag. If you want the most durable version get the all weather. It’s rust proof and has a treated stock so it won’t ever rot. cmgee67, Thanks for the recommendation. If I buy another pistol-caliber lever-action, it will probably be a Henry in .357 mag with the shorter barrel...

Yep. Seems a poor use of the ability.

Re: I didn't want to enjoy it
For me, the plastic didn't become anything close to fantastic until I swapped out the sights on mine. Friend of mine kept trying to get me to shoot his years back and I just was not able to shoot any of his well. When I wanted to get a 10mm, Glocks seemed to be where it was at so I took a chance and...

Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson by Jim Supica & Richard Nahas is a great resource for this.

Re: Calling the Police on Burglars “Comes from a Place of Privilege”
Also, disbanding a city’s police department is not without precedent. When faced with endemic corruption or racism in their police departments, a number of US towns have eliminated their city P.D., and paid the county sheriff or state police to patrol their city. From some viewpoints, eliminating t...

Re: No place but Dallas.
Must be something about Cameros. I got one of those when I was 18. Mind you, mine was in my 1981 black t-top v6 version, didn't break traction (no positrac either, it was a one legged beast that was all show and no go) and didn't exceed the speed limit. Nice ticket for display of excessive accelerat...

Re: If you could only carry a revolver
OC/OWB - I'd absolutely love to have a S&W 329. Now, I'd probably not carry full house loads in the light little thing. Either .44 Specials or .44Mag downloaded to .44 Special level would be just dandy. Alternatively, one of the 29 variants with a shorter barrel. The 6" on my 629 is a bit m...

Re: .44 Magnum Cowboy Action Load for Self-Defense in a Rifle
As folks have mentioned, it should be fine. The chrony results for my Trail Boss loads (240gr Lead) should give a rough idea: 1894 Marlin: Average: 1026.7 FPS (562 ft.lbf) S&W 629 6" Barrel: Average: 859.2 FPS (393 ft.lbf) Big bore lead at black powder levels worked well for folks for many ...

Re: My 629 PC Revolver does damage from both ends
I've paired mine with a Marlin in .44 for hunting hogs out on the farm when I want light and nimble (the rifle, not the revolver). Works fairly well in that case. Proven to stop a hog in it's tracks too. It's also pretty much my favorite range handgun. I skip the expensive .44 special ammo though an...

Re: My 629 PC Revolver does damage from both ends
I'll echo the grips comment (although, my original grips are in a box as over the decades they have come to resemble something more akin to a rock than rubber). It's (my 629-1) worn Hogue's Miculek grips for the past 7 years.

Re: Texan Jokes to pass the time here at home
Shamelessly stolen from facebook: The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert. After they got their tent all set up, both men fell sound asleep. Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and says, 'Kemo Sabe, look towards sky, what you see?' 'The Lone Ranger replies, 'I see millions of ...

Re: New Saint Edge. Need help with accessories!
I just finished putting together a new upper and was thinking that one of those Sig/holosun/primary arms red dots would be just the ticket for it. I have a cheap one on my 9mm ar pistol and it’s been great as a range gun. I’d originally shied away from a red dot since I see a splat (bit of astigmati...
