Re: Dan Wesson DWX - CZ 75 and 1911 blend

I used the link provided to read this: "It started as an experiment — a grand melding of Dan Wesson and CZ pistols. Borrowing the crisp single action fire control group of a DW 1911 and combining it with the ergonomics and capacity of a CZ, the resulting pistol emerged as something great." That make...

Re: Dan Wesson DWX - CZ 75 and 1911 blend

If only CZ didn't give the barrel a short chamber Reamers are a thing for those who want/need a longer chamber; I'd wager over 99% of buyers won't touch it. Considering what the price point is likely to be, I certainly wouldn't want to do a single mod. This is not a new situation regarding CZ 75s a...

Re: Had a Squib

it should not have gone bad in such a short time It's not an age thing, if it stuck so close you couldn't chamber the next round (and thank God that was the case) there wouldn't have been any powder- just the primer. I also carry a brass squib rod in my range bag, just in case. Factory or handloads...

Re: Magazine repair question

Mec-Gar mags should be easy enough to find and very high quality as we know they make mags for many manufacturers in both Europe and the US. It's a real shame that FEG isn't in business today. I had one of the Hi-Power clones that had the rib on the slide and it was probably as accurate as any 9mm I...

Re: Dan Wesson DWX - CZ 75 and 1911 blend

It's a looker for sure. If only CZ didn't give the barrel a short chamber because 1911s in 9mm have generous throats that allow for longer loads. One reason double-stack 1911s are used so often for USPSA 9mm Major. ;-)

Quantitative Ammunition Selection and what it's all about. Lengthy post!

Hopefully, some of you are familiar with the book written by Charles Schwartz. Due to some articles and forum posts from the past, Charles and I became acquainted about 5 years ago, IIRC. This article is for everyone's benefit where I just happened to test a handload connected to other projects just...

Re: 5rds 38Spl+P vs 8rds 32acp

The reasons I picked those 2 are because I already have them & because this is for ankle carry. Weight is a big concern there. I used to carry a subcompact 9mm IWB (my first pistol), but it became exposed as I was reaching up for something & I got a talking to by my supervisors & HR... I could try ...

Re: .45 ACP bullets for range and self defense

Bullseye will work for range loads. If you want the best practice rounds they really should be same weight/velocity. But having said that, there aren't many loads that are more FUN to shoot than 200 gr. SWCs at around 800 FPS, AKA Bunnyfart loads. I've used quite a lot of WST but have recently switc...

Re: Projectile question

Well, we really don't have a convenient location to shoot gun games, but I've been working on a comp load, anyway, with AA No 2. Great accuracy and light recoil. It is an effective bullet for defense loads up to 1180 FPS in my tests. Most 9mm Minor comp shooters seem to prefer 147s for a lower perce...

Re: Projectile question

Why I will say it's not alright. Jacketed bullets will fluctuate in weight. As long as it's by decimals of a grain it's not a big deal. Undersize, or even oversize can be a problem. The bullet used in the handload data was very likely .355" and if you load a larger diameter bullet, pressure increase...

Re: AR optics -dual or dual purpose?

For that kind of $ you can buy the best of variable power scopes, and there are some excellent 1 - 8X models. At 1X there is no searching for the dot, so IMO, scopes at low magnification, or no magnification, are the fastest on target. Generally you'll see price go up with highest magnification, pa...
