Re: University of Texas (UT) Campus Carry page

Be aware that you don't have to have a formal relationship to the university in order to complete the survey. Anyone can fill it out. Under "Relationship to University", I simply selected "Other" and entered "Taxpayer" in the box.

Re: Texas3006.com / Texas3007.com - 30.07 signs now supporte

Since the language for 30.06 is changing, do you plan to update the "Valid" column to "No" for all entries?

Re: HB308

"no person shall be convicted of an offense under subsection (a) or (e) with respect to a Federal facility if such notice is not so posted at such facility, unless such person had actual notice of subsection (a) or (e), as the case may be. " Underlined part would worry me. You would know it's a fed...

Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?

It looks like even though private institutions can opt out, that they will now be forced to post 30.06 signs. Am I wrong? That is a lot of doors in a lot of buildings ... I don't see anything in the bill that requires a private institution to post 30.06 when they opt out. However, the bill does sta...

Re: So what's the new signage going to be?

If I encountered a situation where an employee asked me to leave because of my open carry, I think I would politely ask to speak with a manager or owner to clarify/confirm the store's policy. If the employee agrees to let me stay while he fetches a manager, I would then assume that the manager speak...

That tweet is not accurate. Under HB910, open carry is prohibited on college campuses.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....

If a school declares an area off-limits that is not considered reasonable within legislative intent, what recourse is there? For example, if they declare all common areas with TV's off-limits, is there a way for the students to challenge that? How are the schools be held accountable for making "rea...

Van Taylor is up. He's my Senator and has always talked a good talk. I'm curious to see if he backs it up.

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....

In short: Under SB11, Private colleges can ban carrying a handgun on their property and this is not limited to buildings. This is currently the law since private schools can use TPC §30.06. Under SB11, even private schools cannot have general policies to render all of its real estate off-limits. Th...

Re: HB 910 Conference Committee

2) I hope the big box and chain businesses will focus on 30.07 to avoid visible firearms in their establishment and choose to forego the 30.06 signs. They only have so much real estate at entrances and its a valuable marketing and branding location. How great would it be for them to turn it into an...

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....

I don't have a problem with that. I would very much like to know why a LARGE part of the representatives who voted for HB 910 with the Dutton Amendment ended up voting against it with the Huffines Amendment . A groundswell of negative feedback from law enforcement between the day it was passed by t...
