Depends on how much armor.

A slug is pretty good, but 5.56mm and 7.62mm have more penetration.

Also, I would like something that keeps the gun from being visible when I open my trunk. I could imagine how people would freak out if I load groceries into the trunk and there is a evil black rifle staring at them.  I was thinking the same thing. Plus, like your concealed carry handgun(...

Some other thoughts on trunk guns: I don't leave a round chambered in my rifle while it's in it's case. Rifles like AK's and my AR have free floating firing pins that aren't as safe as modern handguns. I also don't leave the bolt back with a loaded magazine in the rifle. If for some reason the bolt ...

This is a comment on the subject by a SWAT Officer (USMC03) over on ar15.com: "A few things to consider on a Patrol Rifle....The most important thing to remember is that as a cop your carbine will live it's life in the trunk of your patrol car....and if you drive like the rest of us, then your carbi...

I've been thinking a lot about this too. Not really sure what the best solution is. There are units you can buy and install to lock your rifle to the trunk. Quick to access, but they seem kinda pricy. In the past I've carried my AR in a locked hard case. I understand that over time a gun can take qu...

Some people really are short on the time.

One of the guys I talked to works 2 jobs, has 3 kids with a 4th on the way, and is working on his masters degree in his 'spare time'.

I think it's obvious that Brian Nichols needed at least 2 guards and restraints. Having one 5ft grandmother escort a rapist was a recipe for disaster. One observation from seeing how the Harris County courtbuilding works, is that a lot of the people working there are very casual about being around v...

Glad to be carrying my .45 this morning

This morning I was taking one of my dogs for a walk around the neighborhood as I do every morning. I was almost home, but on the opposite side of the street from my house when I saw a boy and dog coming down the street towards me (they were on the opposite side of the street). Dog didn't have a leas...

Mcb1154, Your explaination makes sense to me. I haven't taken Al's class, but I have been there on the range when his students are doing their shooting qualification. I think it's great that he's serious about safety, but his comments the day I was there just didn't sound right to the people on the ...

It was only about 6 months ago I realized that you could carry in church as long as they don't post. It's kind of ironic that in the early colonies, people were often legally required to carry a gun and ammo to church. I haven't actually carried in church yet as my wife would frown on it and it woul...

H&K USP45 fullcap mags available

These things have been extremely hard to find over the last 6 months, but Top Glock said this morning that they've got them in stock (for $52.95).

Thought I would pass this info on.

DEA agent gives a gun safety lesson, don't do what he does.

DEA agent giving speech on gun safety states he's the only one in the room professional enough to carry a Glock... and proves himself wrong. I took my class at Marksman, in S. Houston. I'd definitly go back there for renewal. Does Al Trug have some kind of inside joke about 'cutting a finger off'? Last time I saw his CHL class on the range he told his students if they didn't follow the rules while on the firing line he'd "cut their finge...

I certainly plan on being there. Never been to one before. My coworker's dad is traveling all the way from CA to be there.
