Re: SB354 offered as amendement to SB 1581

Fun in the Senate today. Senator Zaffirini offered SB 5 as amendment #4 to SB 1581, which was acceptable to the author, Senator Ogden. Wentworth then offered SB 354 as amendment #5 to SB 1581. I love it! This time Wentworth has gone "in your face" to both Ogden and Zaffirini. Good clean f...

Re: SB354 as amendment to SB 5

Wentworth did it again. to Zafferini's resurrection of SB 5, now to Ogden's bill.

Re: Articles about zaffrini cutting off nose to spite face

Are there any crime bills that SB 354 could be attached to as an amendment? To me that would highlight the most important aspect of campus carry, namely that it is a personal security, anti-crime measure.

Re: Thursday session in senate

2:30, and they're talking budget. Sen. Ellis just criticized the attempt to cut jury pay because "it violates the constitutional right of poor folks to serve on juries." Now that's novel -- he's concerned about our constitutional rights.

Another comment from Sen. Wentworth in this Dallas Morning News blurb. http://trailblazersblog.dallasnews.com/ ... andgu.html

If the democrats will offer procedural roadblocks tomorrow, does it matter who is presiding? I hope it is not Ogden.

Re: Socioeconomic breakdown

Maybe you can emphasize the insurance analogy of having a CHL and then find some data somewhere showing the relationshipe between insurance purchases and education level.

For what it's worth, I have three pieces of paper along with my piece of plastic.

Re: Does The Death Penalty Deter Murderers?

The following refers to a research studying showing how death penalties deter crimes. I apologize for my sketchy recall on all this. At least five years ago (probably more) after a headline-grabbing Texas execution, I think it was the Wall St. Journal that ran a story citing some criminologist's res...

Re: Is SB 354 DOA?

Keep the calls and faxes coming. It would be good to send some extra ones to Sen. Gallegos. (512) 463-0106 Chas. My $0.02 is on it's way to Senator Gallegos' office. I know you said he's a lost cause, but as he is my Senator, I could not resist giving Senator Ogden another piece of my mind. I kept ...

The op-ed appears aimed at Senator Gallegos, so I just sent a brief rebuttal to his office.

Re: Call Senator Ogden NOW!!!

I'm including an Ellis/Ogden rebuttal in my general (and polite) messages to other Senators. Somebody tell me if they think this will turn off other Senators. Senator X, I am writing as a private citizen/resident/votor to respectfully ask your vote for suspension of Senate rules to allow Senator Wen...

Re: SB 354 is being discussed NOW!

Faxed this to Sen. Ogden just now: I am a professor and live in College Station (obviously voicing my own individual viewpoint). I am disappointed, and frankly baffled, with the argument that I heard you make on the Senate floor today. What I heard you say was 1) you oppose the bill because the alle...

Re: ACTION NEEDED: SB354 Campus Carry

Another start to a new day, drop off the kiddo, come to work, drink a cup of coffee, call my senator plus Hinojosa, wait... did I forget something? Dang it! Left my sack lunch at home. Will just have to call John Woods' list to make up for it. Update: Senator Hinojosa's friendly staffer, Oscar, expl...
