Violence in Chicago reaches a new low even for Chicago.

A nine year old boy on his way to his grandmothers house was lured into and alley and assassinated by gang members because of his fathers membership in a gang. The father is not cooperating with the police. The police have offered a large cash reward and relocation expenses for anyone who provides information on the murderers.

Apparently this is a wake up call for Chicago. Really.

And dad wrath would now take place in a the form of drive by shooting killing 3 and one little girl sleeping in her bed.

Death and violence is so endemic to Chicago it takes something unusual to make the national news. Today it was the number, 6 people were murdered including two children. The victims were found stabbed to death in one home. One person was shot numerous times. Some of the victims had head trauma. The victims were not bound.

Since the one person was shot numerous times, murder suicide has been ruled out.

The police are saying the family was targeted.

The police obviously have to work out, how you stab 5 people to death. Were they knocked out one by one as they came home and then stabbed?

Sounds like being out until after 2:00 am, parked in alleyways, and being engaged in criminal activity, is possibly hazardous to your health in Chicago. I'm sure that all of them were fine upstanding citizens.

I just spent the weekend in Chicago. Stayed in the touristy areas within a mile of the water. Heard a lot fire truck sirens, but no gun shots. Surface streets clean, seemed relatively safe, only a couple seemingly off-kilter homeless people. Cops in Groups of fours -- but didnt seem very attentive.

Subterranean streets were a different matter. Grimy, gloomy, guys sitting around drinking at the intersections. Uber driver took a wrong turn once and we ended up down there driving wrong way on a one-way street. Quite the tour.

The U-505 was a neat tour. Highly recommended if you go to Chicago.

Addendum: I saw a very few gun-buster signs (No Berettas!), and IIRC they were only on the hotels. The Swissotel had a gun buster and a little bit of verbiage acknowledging that licensed concealed carry was legal, but they didn't want it on their property.

Never been and see no reason to change that status.

Chicago tops its top. A young man was tied up, gagged and tortured "live" on Facebook. Apparently he was thought to be a Trump supporter by his captors, as they shouted bad things followed by Trump as the repeatedly cut him with a knife. Supposedly it is being investigated as a hate crime.

Murderer in Chicago, beats rap due to DA failing to give him a speedy trial. Apparently in Chicago those are grounds to get charges dismissed. ( yeah I guess things are really bad in Chicago). He is released and as he is riding away, a car pulls up along side his and shots are fired killing him.

Victims friends and family? Another gang? Normal day in Chicago?

That whole story sounds like it the entire justice system there is so inept they couldn't convict anyone. How was his accomplice "accidentally" shot by police during an arrest, and then went on his own to seek treatment?
