Hardly a day goes by that you don't have some new murder/death/kill story to post from Houston. That area is almost as bad as Chicago.

I think it's worse. The murders in Chicago are, reportedly, mostly gang-based. Houston's murders seem to be more directed towards everyday people (e.g. the dad carrying his daughter's birthday cake into a restaurant).

The shooter arrested for the January 11 murder--and, yeah, it really was 22 rounds into the 15-year-old girl's body--was Frank Deleon Jr., her 17-year-old boyfriend. He was arrested Monday night, the 17th, and 36 hours later, as of the morning of Wednesday, the 18th, he's out on bond.

"Police said Alvarez's gunshot wounds were consistent with her laying [sic] on her back on the ground at the time of her murder. Numerous shell casings were found around her body.... Police said Deleon lied to them when he was arrested and said he didn't meet up with Alvarez and hadn't seen her, despite surveillance video and screenshots with evidence of the encounter."

There are concerns that Deleon will retaliate with violence against the girl's family. So, yeah, let's get this stalwart, upstanding young citizen out on bond just as quickly as we can. He was granted house arrest with a GPS monitor.
