Is there any way we could get a "report post" button to inform mods of a spam or offensive spam post?
I think we just got indexed by some site, as i've seen more spam posts this week than my entire time posting on here.
"report post" button?

We really try to keep an eye on it. It is not very often that one stays on the board very long. I am usually up early. Carlson1 is the night owl. Several of the others are on both through the day & then in the late evening.
It is pretty rare for spam or porn to stay available for over an hour anytime except between about 2:00am to 5:00am. The rest of the time is pretty well covered & we get it usually w/in a few minutes.
I am still waiting on the new & improved program.

Carry 24-7 or guess right.

TexasCHLforum uses a very popular, open-source software based on a type of scripting language known as PHP. Unfortunately, when you combine open-source, free software with a huge install base, the result is a whole lot of idiots who seem to have nothing better to do than try to hack into it and spam away.
It's a never-ending battle. I have a couple of (very) quiet boards that use the same software, and I continue to be amazed that these automated spambots are able to get through the visual authentication code, register, and post. I ban user names, block repeat-offending domain names (like free email providers based out of Saudi Arabi...I had a run on those early this year), carefully restrict certain IP addresses, use add-on modifications to try to block spambots (things like denying registration if the whole user process took less than five seconds), and still some get through.
In my somewhat informed opinion, I think Charles and crew are doing a bang-up job (no pun intended) to keep such an active board so clean. The upgrade to version 3 that Charles mentioned is in Beta version 4 as of November 27 (Beta 1 came out in June), so I expect we'll see the new production version early next year.
Again, a hand for our tireless Moderators!
