I looked hard, but I do not think this is the same ND at the Sig range a day or so ago.

Good suggestion, but there are a whole lot of guns where decocking and clicking the safety on can't be done.

Then you would simply ignore that portion of the instruction...Jeez...

My brother works at the Firearms Museum. When something like this happened another time, the employee was fired immediately, within minutes. For political/PR reasons, they have zero tolerance for NDs.

BTW, the NRA range in the basement of the NRA building, where this happened, is very nice, state of the art.

I wasn't intending to discredit your advice. I was just suggesting that skipping part of the procedure because of engineering conditions shortcuts the safety procedure you outline. A lot of these NDs seem to involve striker weapons with no manual safety, although it isn't clear that this was the case in this particular incident.

True, that. I'm going to call Sig when I can and see if they will ship a new FCU with safety for my P320. If the grip shells aren't available, it looks like a quick job with a dremel tool to solve the problem.

It's not quite the safety I'd like to see, since it blocks the trigger bar and not the sear, but it will enhance the gun's safety factors.
