Dan Licardo, who I believe is affiliated with Crossfire Training, was involved in a horrific accident on Labor Day and is literally fighting for his life in a Flower Mound, Texas, hospital.

Dan is a former Navy Seal and a real American warrior.

I wish him Godspeed on his journey to recovery.

Isn't that more damage than you'd expect in a typical 45MPH crash? I can't tell a thing from the image, I wonder if that is a new aluminum Ford?

How did you arrive at the 45 mph figure?

It is a 45 MPH speed limit. But there is more that may explain the extraordinary damage:
About 6:38 p.m., a vehicle traveling southbound on FM 2499 crossed the center median at Churchill Road and entered the northbound lanes, according to Flower Mound Police Capt. Shane Jennings. The vehicle struck two other vehicles before hitting a tree and coming to a stop.
The crash is still under investigation and the cause has not been determined as of Wednesday, Jennings said, adding that it doesn’t appear any citations will be issued.

The crash was at 2499/Sagebrush, not Churchill.

I live about a mile from there. Witnesses were saying that he tried to beat the red light at the intersection and sped up, unfortunately the car in front of him decided to stop suddenly. He clip it as he tried to go around it, crossed the median, hit another car, knocked down a light pole and hit the tree.

He was airlifted via Careflight to Parkland's Level 5 Trauma Center.

He's in critical condition. He's received 24 blood transfusions, Coded once on the table, and lost both legs.

Updated Crosstimbers Gazette article now states:

“Licardo suffered a seizure due to TBI [traumatic brain injury] while driving. His vehicle went off the road, impacting a tree at high speed. It took emergency crews 45 minutes to cut Dan out of the truck,” according to the Navy SEALs Fund website.

That's good that they updated the article.

My neighbor is a member of Crossfire and a friend of Dan's and he even mentioned that the witness accounts didn't sound like something Dan would do especially with kids in the truck with him.

My wife was driving by the accident shortly after it happened, before FMFD got there. There were multiple persons already rendering aid, so she did not remain, but she said it was really bad. The pictures definitely prove that.

Drove past this accident with my wife as the helo was lifting off the deck and heading to the hospital. It was ugly, to say the least. The seizure makes a lot more sense now, because at the time, I was blown away that anybody would be driving that fast in a 45 mph zone to do that much damage to a vehicle. Sad day. Hope he pulls through, although he will be in a world of hurt if he does.
