First time to carry on body!!

#1

Post by M_Smith86 »

I carried my PX4 Compact today OWB for the first time on my body and It went off without a hitch. Although I still have the feeling that everybody is staring at me, and I found that I was constantly checking if it was printing. Hopefully that will pass with time.

I have not got the chance to have that feeling. Still waiting for chl. Im sure in a few weeks it will be natural to you.

The most comfortable carry ever, good holster, good belt, and light trendy Eddie-Bower vest == Presto!

I had that feeling for about three or four months after getting my CHL... now I am like an old man who does not care if he is seen is in tighty whities, I just go with the flow. But seriously now I completely forget there is something either on my hip, pocket or calf.

Indeed. Just resist that newbee urge to feel to make sure its still there. Its a dead givaway that your carrying. Even those of us actively looking for others carrying around us can't tell your carrying most of the time. My Father in Law does some special watching for a sheriffs Dept and even he didnt notice I was carrying the other day until he asked to see my gun and expected me to retrieve it from the bedroom lol. He was quite surprised when it appeared from my hip and I cleared it for him to check out. He is wanting my Shield with lasermax and crossbreed holster in a bad way haha.

You'll get used to it and carry confidently soon. Then, the next thing to get over is the awkward feeling you get when you're somewhere that you CANNOT legally carry and you miss your pistol.

This must be universal. I think it takes 6 months at least to not feel self aware when carrying. Becomes second nature after awhile and people are not really staring at you. Congrats!

Glad it all went okay for you. You'll get passed that feeling that everyone knows before you know it.
