Um, was that it?

Sounds like someone raised a procedural hurdle along the lines of being not on the same subject matter as the bill and then the amendment was withdrawn...

I just read Driver's amendment (#43). It appeared to have some syntax issues. Maybe an amendment to the amendment would have been in order?

So is that the end of the road :???:

If I'm missing something let me know.

Right now, PO'd doesn't even begin to cover it. :mad5 :mad5 :mad5

Time to let Duncan he will not be getting another vote from me and Jones (rep) also for not supporting it to begin with.

Rep. Farrar, F-rated Democrat who wants to lower the penalty for murdering your less then 12 month child to a State Jail Felony under a grossly ambiguous standard raised the point of order. It deals with subject matter. The amendment and the point of order were withdrawn.

It's not over.

Yeah, what's up with that?

Driver announced the amendment and someone raised a point of order, there was no sound, then driver withdrew the amendment.

Where does that leave us, as far as attaching an amendment to 2730?

It seemed pretty obvious that this point of order would be raised. Is there a workaround, or are we back to focusing on HB 1893/SB 1164?

Is there someone we should be calling? My phone has cooled down now from the flurry of calls I made earlier.....

HB 2730 just passed, without Driver's amendment. Where does that leave us for Campus Carry? Can it still happen? If so, how?

HB2730 passed. The Driver amendment was not re-offered. More work is in progress, but I can't go into any details at this time.

Fair enough, Charles. I know you are putting in a lot of work on this. My office is near the capital, so let me know if I need to make a lunch trip to shake a hand in person type of thing... in addition to phone calls (which you always get when you ask for them).

Two hours into their last day to hear bills on second reading, the Texas House of Representatives is honoring girl scouts and high school students and talking about an upcoming country western benefit concert. If HB 1893 were high enough on the calendar to have a snowball's chance in Hell of being heard today, I'd be really irritated.

As one 'statesman' said:

For those of you who don't get it, this was a "parliamentary inquiry" made following the passing of a series of memorial resolutions honoring people who've died. I think this was Rep. Scott Hochberg's (district 137) way of suggesting that the House is wasting a lot of time on its last day to hear House bills on second reading.

It took the House TWO HOURS to get to today's calendar.

I just saw this. Do I still need to contact my representatives?

One suggestion for future legislative session... can we set up some sort of email distribution list for these time critical things. I have a lot of sites that are blocked from work, but I want to be able to respond quickly if needed. Maybe something that only Charles can send from so we don't get a lot of spam and chatter.. just the good stuff. Just a suggestion.
