Voted this morning at 8a.m. The line was not bad at all. Only 10-15 minutes to get to the booth. Straight Rep. for me. Glad i took the day off from work and got it done.

When voted today the beetoo bus and band was across the street in the parking lot playing, I did ask the beetoo man why not being a Mexican do they have a Mexican band? No answer back just a look.

Saw a link on Facebook about a possible class action against Beto for his unwanted text messages. Be interesting to see how this plays out.

I plan to vote Democrat, so this forum isn’t 100% Republican. (Granted it might be 99.999%).

I also think a few of our newest members are subtly trying to discourage Conservative voters from going to the polls, because hey don't bother voting as 'the commie's gonna win!

I can think of several. My rules for voting are (in order):

1. Vote for people I specifically want to win. This means that I have paid enough attention to that race that I decided who I support for whatever reason.
2. Vote against people I specifically do not like. Again, this means I paid enough attention to a race to make a decision.
3. In races where I did not pay that much attention (we simply have too many offices for me to follow all of them), I refuse to vote in any race where the person is unopposed. If he can't win without my vote in a case like that, he doesn't deserve the office.
4. Vote by party in the following order:
a. Libertarian
b. Independent
c. Republican
d. Democrat
e. Vote against anyone in Communist or Socialist party.

Some of the issues I strongly disagree with the Republican party on include religion and abortion. Some of the issues I strongly disagree with the Democratic party on include welfare and guns.

I note that when I get to the party part, I place the Republican party higher than the Democrats, but since I vote for (and against) people first, there are specific issues I use to decide. I do know of some Democrats who are staunch supporters of gun rights and I can be convinced to support them in some specific cases.

As an aside, when I vote against someone it is usually character based more than issues.

A well stated position Steve, and one I'm closely aligned with. I vote for the individual candidate, not the party. There are plenty of idiots and imbeciles to go around in every political party and I try my best to vote against them regardless of their party affiliation.

That's great but both of your positions are significantly different than infoman's. I'm curious about what dem positions makes him want to vote dem when one of their primary positions is contrary to the 2nd Amendment and what this forum is about.

When the 70-something lady with the crocheted cap and giant Beat-O sign started to talk to me outside the polls yesterday I gave her my best glare, the one generally reserved for panhandling bums approaching me in big cities. Message received, she diverted immediately towards more promising game. I try to make a point of not arguing politics with unhinged strangers on the street.

Frankly, I was glad to be able to avoid the group of young people with similar signs across the street. The temptation to explain the error of their ways may have been too great.

I wish they would make the no-politicking zone around voting locations much bigger. Like a half mile at least.
