GISD Armed To Protect
Signs are being installed this week, posted on all Groesbeck ISD campuses which state: “ATTENTION: GISD STAFF ARE ARMED AND TRAINED TO PROTECT OUR STUDENTS.”

“First, we do not believe we are forcing staff to become police officers nor do we believe we are better equipped to deal with a threat than law enforcement. “Guardians” are designed to provide students and faculties an armed self-defense option prior to the arrival of law enforcement in the event of an active shooter or “active killer” on campus,”

Great. Hope more districts avail themselves of the options that are available, particularly the Guardian Program. The main mantra of the Guardian Program is PROTECT THE STUDENTS and STOP THE THREAT. In no way are Guardians Police nor do they want to be, but in a situation where seconds can mean lives, the Guardian is there to protect and stop prior to arrival of LE.

Good deal. Last time I looked more than 30% of Texas ISDs had armed, non-police staff.
