Sig Sauer Germany - bankrupt

Poor guys. SIG has been mainly an American company for many years, with the R&D being in America. In fact, I heard that could be a factor in why they're closing. For example, the MCX was withdrawn from the military trials in Germany due to ITAR restrictions. I guess they are officially and entirely American now.

Yes they are pulling out due to the Military and other factors not using their products anymore and I’m sure other reasons. They do just fine in America. Sig is my favorite pistol manufacturer and I’m glad to support them being 100% American now.

There is still a SIG in Switzerland I believe, and maybe one other country (besides the US). But pretty sure Sig Sauer in the US is the gorilla of the bunch. Sig Germany had 130 employees. Sig in America has I think 1200.

Demand for everything they make is staggering, guns, optics, ammo. Number thrown my way this week by somebody who would know, they sold 2 million rounds of ammo in March 2019. All made in their Arkansas plant. March 2020, 6 million rounds. And they've not been in the ammo game that long.

I've had no reason not to equate all things Sig with quality. I bought a Romeo 5 recently and like the little guy so much I've already ordered another. And a Sig P226 is on the 2020 wishlist; have a P220, but have wanted a P226 for some time. Am also really interested to one day see the Cross rifle (https://www.sigsauer.com/store/sig-cross-rifle.html). I haven't tried they're V-Crown 124 gr. 9mm ammo, but it's Scott's fault that it's now on my wishlist...

That said the Swiss portion of the company SAN Swiss Arms recently officially changed their name to Sig Sauer, so maybe a prelude to this? Moving all European production to Switzerland?

That was really squirrely by the Germans. Those guns were sold to those governments via a US military assistance program.

Sig is not bankrupt. Nowhere near. They are likely shutting down the German plant because the legislative/political anti-gun climate there.

Don't do that to me, darnit. Wishlist! I gotta find a post-Coronapocalypse-layoff job before I buy any new toys. Took me a second to find it because that listing was back in October, but good looking firearm, with threaded barrel and four mags. Surprised you still have it.
