Safe to have kids sort cases?

Post by AlaskanInTexas »

I've got a couple of bored boys that need some work/discipline. I also have thousands of cases that need to be sorted by head stamp. The cases have been tumbled, deprimed, and sonic cleansed. I think they ought to be safe if I give them gloves and strict instructions not to touch their faces until they wash up. Too risky? What say ye?

As long as they don't eat them, they will be fine.

If they have been sonic cleaned, then pretty well any trace elements are going to be gone. They will be much safer sorting clean brass than handling loaded rounds. If it makes you feel better, have them wear thin cotton gloves and keep the gloves away from their face. The gloves will help keep oils from their skin off the cases as well.

Thanks! I'll try the cotton gloves.

That's the sort of task my father managed to turn into a reward, when we were young. A little psychology, a little Tom Sawyer ... Yeah, he was good.

Don't let them eat finger food during, and do have them wash their hands afterwards.
The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

As long as they don't put their fingers or the brass in their mouth they will be fine. If that isn't enough corrective labor I have about 12,000 cases that I would love to have done in the same fashion. :thumbs2:

I have a sudden itch to become a child-labor mogul.
