Actually, it has just started... but don't worry. Once it is over you'll forget all about how frustrating the process is.

This is my first post as I've just joined the forum. I've learned a lot just by reading the excellent posts. I'm kind of curious about how the Texas CHL process works. My wife mailed our packets on the same day, the week before Labor Day. My plastic arrived before the end of September. Her status id BG "under review" since September 12th. Since we have no child support issues and have always paid our taxes, what gives? We both purchased handguns recently, so there shouldn't be any issues. Has anyone else run into a similar situation?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on receiving your plastic, you should receive your instructions for the secret handshake in a couple of days :biggrinjester:
On a more serious note, sometimes it just takes more time. It is possible she is no longer under review and the website is just slow to update.

Newbie, like many others.

Here's my story:
01NOV Online Application
05NOV Class
11NOV Fingerprints
14NOV Mailed Packet
16NOV Packet Delivered (Sent with USPS Certified Mail; can check delivery status online)

We'll see where it goes from here.

Just reading through this post from the earliest to the most recent it seems to me like there was a dramatic drop in processing time when folks filed electronically. Not sure why...I expect that DPS already the info entered into their computers (via the applicant) and they didn't have to try and decipher handwriting.

Just submitted my papers today, hopefully I got all of them correctly filled out. On the check list on one of these forums, I read that there were fingerprints and documents that needed to be notarized, but all of my papers were filled out in class. I'm assuming the instructor took care of that for me as well the fingerprints are now submitted electronically, hope that's not too much of an issue.

Waiting certainly does suck.

10-23-2011 - filed TXDPS application
11-01-2011 - Digital Fingerprints
11-10-2011 - CHL Class
11-11-2011 - In the Mailbox (holiday)
11-16-2011 - DPS received
11-19-2011 - Pending BG check
12-07-2011 - BG check COMPLETE!!! Manufacture pending - yeah!!!
12-08-2011 - Manufacturing!!!
12-09-2011 - Mailed
12-14-2011 - Plastic!!!!! :hurry:

Wondering if they can see how many times an applicant checks their status (probably DPS water-cooler jokes) "Blah,Blah,Blah...checked it 42 times today!...hahahaha!"

Filled out the online application today, then clicked the link to take me to the fingerprinting appointment web site... and it was all downhill from there. The L-1 site imported my name wrong and I didn't notice, but when I printed all the documents out at the end, they were all for "Last Name Middle Name" instead of "First Name Last Name" I tried to edit my appointment but that just messed things up more, so I canceled the appointment to try to start over and now the site can't find my info. Sigh! If this is a sign of things to come, I am in for a frustrating wait.
