I know someone who had the surgery in her 30s, IIRC, and she's still going good and strong in her 80s now. Her biggest problem is lack of activity, which is only because she doesn't want to, not because she isn't capable. My biggest recommendation after knowing her would be to establish some sort of exercise routine now while you're young and able (and most everyone posting on an internet forum does qualify for young in comparison to her) so that it will be something you can keep doing when you're her age. If you think it is hard to start now, imagine doing so when you really need it in your 80s.

We're up to about 30 yeses and 25 maybes now. I know there are quite a few more DFW area people. Come on down, folks!

It appears that both my boys may be with me that weekend. Ages 15 and 16. They've been asking for me to take them shooting again, so this may be a good opportunity for them. I'll make sure any adolescent 'tudes are checked at the door. I have to say that their behavior so far around firearms has been exemplary, so I would expect the trend to continue......

I was told by my Doctor I could go back to weight lifting and a normal life after this. :totap: I have not been able to work out since April because of this.
My life is basically back to normal so relax for now. I have complete relief after the operation with a little limit in neck movement no biggie. The only problem I have since the operation is sometime I wake up in the middle of the night and can not get air in my lungs or choke on a spec of food or water and have trouble getting air down the pipe this could be related to the operation or not, the VA did a swallow study which they say looked normal except for the ulcers in my stomach, the Dr thought maybe it was anxiety attack I have issue with that line as what anxiety do you have when your asleep, the anxiety comes from not breathing and another Dr thought it was sleep apnea.

Just to keep this on topic is anyone interested in getting together for breakfast before the the gathering at 9:00. The Cracker Barrel by GV mall comes to mind.

I have a 16 YO I would like to bring, however his seriousness in regards to weapons has not given me much confidence. I want to bring him to the range but he needs to sit with me and learn a few basic safety items first. He has yet to take time from his life to learn. So I will bring the wife and 20 month old and hope the wife gets a chance to shoot a .380 or 9mm she has fired my .45(G21) which is a bit large for her hands.

I have been having the same issues. I assumed t was because they had my esophagus all jerked around to get to my disks. It is getting better, but I have to think before swallowing or it goes down the wrong way.

FYI: If this is an ongoing problem after the post-operative recovery period, speech therapists can do wonders to help your swallow. They have all sorts of tools available to get rid of this type of problem.

Do you mean Grapevine Mills Mall when you say GV mall?

I'm really looking forward to it. I don't know if I can make breakfast or a lunch afterward, one or the other maybe, but probably not both. My son will definitely be coming. My wife probably is coming. And I have at lease 3 or 4 friends who want to come too.

I have an appt tomorrow afternoon. I am gonna ask for permission to go shooting. I don't see how it could hurt unless they are concerned about the shock. I am still a maybe. I might wear out quick, but I might get to go.

I'm sure we can prop you up against something........you know us, always trying to be helpful...... :evil2:

On a serious note, just follow the doctor's orders. Or see if he wants to come along!

Just a self-indulged reminder that I'm hoping to handle and/or try on some holsters and would be very grateful for any you could bring to help me include or exclude any from my list.

I'd be particularly appreciative if anyone has one and would bring the following:
Shoulder, SOB, IWB cross-draw, or ankle holsters (good, bad, or ugly--just so I can get a better idea of options) or any holsters specifically designed for women.

And also for a chance to put a few rounds through an M&P 9, 9c, or .45c.

I don't have much to offer in the way of shooting irons for folks to try, but any are welcome. Might need a little support with .380 ammo if anyone wants to try the Taurus TCP PT738. I only have one box.

Other than that I have the following:

Beretta 92G Centaurian
Mossberg 500 (pistol grip, short barrel)

I am a maybe for myself and my fiance. If I can make it out to the event I will be bringing my G26 and a Taurus TCP. I have some spare 380 ammo that I can let people use to try the TCP.
