Update for status

Lurking until now...
Here are the stats so far:
4/10/2011 - Online registration
4/23/2011 - CHL class
4/26/2011 - L1 fingerprints
4/27/2011 - Packet sent certified
4/29/2011 - Packet received (waiting game for online status to change)
interim - yes I have to check just to make sure.......nearly daily....
5/16/2011 - Cant stand it anymore,,, call and am informed it will take 3-5 wks for status to change (ohhhhhh man is going to kill me) did I mention a microwave is often too slow?????
5/18/2011 - online status changed now have to await the background checks..... ohhhh this is going to hurt.....
5/27/2011 - Background Check completed - manufacturing pending

I see light at the end of the tunnel!!!

The postman didn't bother to knock, but he did leave an envelope with my name on it....



Looks like I don't have to post about waiting anymore

No Joy today....

Waited for the Postman all day.
Didn't get a single letter. If my plastic doesn't arrive tomorrow; it will be Tuesday at the earliest.

Hang in there, guys--the plastic will be there shortly after it goes to the manufacturing pending/manufacturing/mailed steps!

I must say that I will be on a quest for a good holster. I've been having some trouble finding one (for any of my firearms) that is comfortable. Right now, it's a cheapie Uncle Mike's IWB for my Sig P238HD. Heavy little bugger, but doesn't seem to bother me like the subcompact Glocks I've been collecting lately. I got some OWB holsters for those, and probably just have to find some different clothes to get those things under control.

5/28-Mailed!

I am really surprised that it says mailed... it either changed Friday afternoon or this morning.... and I dont know why it would have changed on either? I have never seen it changed other than between 6-9 a.m. ...and yesterday at 10 a.m. it still said manufacturing. Do those guys work Saturdays?

Either way, i'm ready to get my Tx plastic in hand and retire the ol Florida license. So i'd like to say a few words to the state of Florida if nobody minds..

Dear Florida,

Thank you for being supportive of out of state applicants! I was stationed in California for 6 years, and even though they are a non-rights state, I constantly did DET's to FL and managed to get one of your precious licenses. Now that i'm in my home state again, it is only right that I participate in it's conceal carry program- i'm sure you understand. We had some great times together, Fl license. Thanks again!

It's Here !! I have PLASTIC !!

My Texas CHL arrived today at exactly 2:00 PM. The postmark shows that it was mailed from Austin on Friday, 27-May-2011 and the Texas DPS CHL web site indicated mailed on the same day. Maybe they were trying to clear out all the approved CHL's prior to Memorial Day weekend. It only took the Post Office one day to deliver the letter to me in San Antonio. An interesting item is that the return address is zip code 78773, which is the Texas DPS Licensing and Registration Service Office, but the mailed from postmark zip code was 78752. Since the postmark was a machine applied postage mark, maybe 78752 is where the CHL's are actually processed.

Time from the day Texas DPS received my documents to the day I received my CHL was only 38 days total which works out to 28 working days.

My time line was:

1/1/1996 to 4/15/2011......Procrastinated taking the CHL class
4/15/2001......................Registered for the CHL class
4/16/2011......................Attended CHL class in San Antonio
4/17/2011......................Passed shooting qualification
4/18/2011......................Submitted online CHL Application with Texas DPS. Made fingerprint appointment
4/19/2011......................Electronic fingerprints taken. Mailed documents by USPS with Delivery Confirmation
4/20/2011......................USPS confirms delivery of documents to Texas DPS
4/27/2011......................Fingerprints rejected by FBI due to unreadable. Rescheduled fingerprinting with L1.
4/28/2011......................Second set of electronic fingerprints taken by L1 and submitted to DPS.
5/13/2011......................1st update: Background Ck-Under review, CHL-Print pending completion of application review
5/25/2011......................2nd update: Background Check-Completed, CHL-Manufacturing Pending
5/26/2011 .....................3rd update: CHL-Manufacturing
5/27/2011......................4th update: CHL-Mailed
5/28/2011......................Received Texas CHL at 2:00 PM exactly!

Now is time to load up and head on down for a Wally Walk or as we're more likely to do in San Antonio: A River Walk on the River Walk!!

Congratulations, Ice Life! I suppose that the River Walk will do just fine as a suitable substitute for the Wally Walk. Are there a lot of 51% signs posted? I really didn't pay attention until I learned about "the signs" from the CHL class.

Have fun, and I hope that you have a good, comfortable holster. I'm still getting acclimated to carrying...actually went out and got another holster for one of my guns today to see if it would work out better, and so far, it has.

Your mail is definitely quicker over there. Glad to hear that you're good to go now.

Thanks Beanie-Bean! I'm not sure about the restaurants on the River Walk in San Antonio being 51% establishments or not. My guess would be that most of the restaurants will not be 51% places. Some of the bars might be. I'll have to look for the signs when I go down to the River Walk. Like you, I didn't pay any notice to 30.06 or 51% signs until after I took the CHL class. I'll be looking for all the signs now that I have my CHL.

around 5/13/2011 package received starting background check.

It's been about a week since I checked, but when I went tonight, I'm finally at the background check.

I was out of town last week, but when I checked on Tuesday 5/24/2011, my status had changed to Mailed. So hopefully it will be here soon.

Mine arrived yesterday. Postmark was the 23rd and it took until 5/28 to get here. So 53 days round trip.
