Application Completed - license issued or certificate active
Well I just checked my status online and the wait is finally over!!!!!
Now I just have to wait for the snailman, But if the DPS mails out my license today, I should have it by this time tomorrow as it generally only takes one day to get mail from Austin.
Sept. 27th: Took CHL Class
Oct. 2nd: Mailed completed application to DPS
Oct. 3rd: Application packet recieved by DPS
Oct. 17th: Recieved PIN by email/ Processing Application
Oct. 18th: Recieved PIN by snail mail; dated Oct. 16th.
Jan. 2nd: I was told by phone that application was approved, just waiting for plastic to come in.
Jan. 14th: Application Completed - license issued or certificate active
103 days from the time application was recieved by DPS to the time the Application was completed and license issued.

A while back our Sheriff passed away. This may have been a reason for the holdup. He was a good man and had just been
re-elected. Meanwhile, I'll just take every day in stride, and try to be patient.

Through my painful ordeal of waiting, I discovered that it's not the county Sherriff that does the local BG checks. It's a DPS person (state trooper) that is specifically designated to be responsible for that function for each specific county. That DPS person permanently works within that county. As for Harris County, there is only ONE trooper that is charged with that responsibility. Yep...that's right.
The new state legislature has just convened in Austin. If you want to get something changed, it's on the shoulders of your local reps to do something about the manpower shortage. Believe me, I know you get angry enough to blame that person that answers the phone in Austin, but don't. They are really busting their back sides to get caught-up. The state legislature needs to feel the heat, man-up and add additional funding to the CHL processing functions state-wide.

Well, I called DPS again for the forth time in 3 weeks. Asked to speak with a Supervisor and was told they would call me back today. The lady handling my license called me and told me that she was sorry for the delays and they she had put my plastic in the mail this morning. Just waiting for the plastic now to do the Wally Walk.

Chin up Bridge, Hopefully yours is next up for completion. The fact that The status changed to completed on a Sunday shows that TDPS is in fact working overtime to get the applications done. I checked the status yesterday (on Saturday) and it still showed processing application.
The funny thing is I just ordered a holster last night. Now the race is on: Which will get here first, my plastic or the holster I ordered. My guess is the holster, the place I ordered it from is suppose to have really good customer service. I am also still waiting for the two free Mags from Springfield Armory that I ordered when I got my SA XD. That should be here any day also.

Stormwatcher - where are you located? Our applications went to "processing" on the same day as yours. (Oct. 31st) Hoping maybe ours will be approved soon!
