Yep. Straight from the NY Times.

Someone pointed out the last shooting in a church, that person was not qualified to buy a gun as well.

Texan Who Engaged Shooter Shares His Story [VIDEO]

There's a short video of the Good Samaritan. He's almost in tears for the whole thing.

Then there's a video of his cousin, relaying the story, presumably as the Samaritan told him.

The NICS system is horribly broken, both because of incomplete an haphazard reporting (at all levels) and errors in NICS itself.

Those interviews are riveting. So, the church shooter took one in his side and two in the neck from the good guy's AR15---and still managed to drive a few miles down the road before he killed himself according to the police. Those must have been graze wounds. Any of those hits by themselves should have been sufficient to put the bad guy down---depending of course on shot placement.

Interesting that the "death vehicle" was hijacked and the poor owner/driver was in the passenger's seat. He is certainly a vital witness regarding statements made by Kelley, the phone-call to his dad, and whether and how he committed suicide. I assume the media will get to him in a matter of time.

Everyone is saying the youngest victim was 18 months old, but that is not true. The youngest victim was being carried by his/her pregnant mother who was killed.

That fact doesn’t fit the media’s agenda.

If this is accurate, the good guy did a lot more than was initially reported. This version of the facts is markedly different from what has been reported earlier.

DPS states the shooter had three wounds, one in the torso, one in the leg, one in the head. The head wound was self inflicted. The armed citizen’s cousin said the citizen shot him twice in the neck.

Regardless of which is correct the armed citizen is a true hero who deserves all our thanks.

He really needs to keep magazines loaded and ready though.

Unfortunately if you are using AR mags (especially with steel feed lips) keeping them loaded will damage the feed lips if they are not inserted in the weapon. If you are using a magazine like a p-mag you can leave them loaded as long as you have the little "dust cover" or feed lip protector thing in place over the feed lips.

From a political view the good guy's weapon choice is both a blessing and a curse. It's a blessing because it can be pointed to as an example where an AR pattern rifle (and a so-called assault weapon) were used to interrupt an attacker. It's a curse because the opposition will use the unloaded magazine being loaded as he went to stop the shooter to claim so called 'so storage requirements' do not impede self defense and they will claim castrated capacity magazines are ok because the good guy was able to use the limited capacity caused by having to load the magazine to stop the attacker. Although I suspect they will ignore the good guy's part in the whole event.
