We haven't had any sleet, just rain in Pasasdena, TX. Low temp so far 30°F. This is a pix from where I was supposed to visit, 20°F with snow Mansfield, TX .

A real snow bird!

Never drive in a ice storm if you can avoid it.

Clear and sunny here near Comfort, but still cold, with a BITTERLY cold wind, the kind that bites into your face like razor blades. Little white patches of yesterday's sleet in the shady areas.

Pipes tried to freeze this morning here in Comfort. Still have a bit of work to do in insulating better in the new house.
That PEX plumbing job I did in October is really paying off. Won't have to replace bursted PVC this week.

PEX is great! It really saved me last year. PVC plumbing in houses is awful... but gives plumbers plenty of repair business. My buddy's PVC plumbing in the attic exploded last year... but fortunately he had installed shutoff valve beforehand which he used to keep the damage to a minimum. He has PEX now.

East of Farmersville. Never lost power last year. This time lost power for 41.5 hrs. When we built our house, we did NOT skimp on insulation and it paid off. Inside temp only got down to 57°. Shop got down to 43°.
Lost over 1/3 of 1 large tree and about 1/4 of another.

We lost power for about 3 hours. Fired up the generator, hit the transfer switch and all was well. Took about 5 minutes for the complete change over only because the wife had stacked some of her craft “stuff” in front of the transfer switch in the garage. Wish I had seen that before it got dark. However, after my rants, bet she doesn’t stack it there again :mad5 :banghead:
