Interesting Expierience today

I had an interesting experiance a couple of weeks ago. A lady just about forced me off the road as she turned into my lane. Its a pretty new car, but I was paying close attention and was able to swerve out of the way. I was irritated, but I've learned long ago it doesn't make any sense to get mad at strangers for being stupid. What was funny though was the womens technique for defusing the situation. She waves at me and smiles, which to mind she acknowledges that she did something foolish, at the next light she did the same thing. I sorta chuckled at her and any aggravation I had with her was gone.
I thought she did a pretty good job of saying she was sorry, and getting forgiveness,,,,

A wave and a smile is my standard response to these kinds of highway idiots. There they are screaming and swearing at me, and I wave and smile. Doesn't matter whether I am the one who messed up or if they did. I do the same thing.

It usually defuses them pretty well.

I have the regular numbers for the local departments programmed into my address book. There is no reason to call 911 if it is not a true emergency. I will call that number for stalled vehicles blocking a lane, minor accidents, etc to leave the 911 operators open.

You can usually find them in the front of the phone book. If not listed there, look under the city listings, i.e. Plano, City of or Collin, County of.

In many places (including Dallas) it's 311.

311 will not work from a cell phone, only a land line.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but it is my understanding that
(214) 744-4444
is a non-emergency number to contact the Dallas police department.

Yes it is, and the fire number is 214-670-4611.

Most phone books will have the numbers for your area lsited on a page right near the front of the book. If not there, look in the blue pages for the ones in you local area.

If you are unsure, always use 911 and they can transfer you out of the emergency system if needed.

I would disagreee with this. Why burden the operator with this? Just call information and ask for the number. 1-800-Free-411. It really is free. You just have to listen to an ad.
