Big Town gun show

That's such a relief.

Far too many CHL holders find reasons to unholster at guns shows and that's unfair to everybody present.

I understand that. And these people should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

There IS a small room (or at least there used to be) behind the "tie table" at Big Town. It is where we took "unloaded" guns

that people handed to us. Unlike the environment at Market Hall, we could at least get away from the public somewhat and point the muzzle in a safer direction while we removed live rounds before returning to the table to tie off the actions.

Sorry, but even if I was sitting at that tie table again (or standing in line as a customer), I would not be trusting such people (CHL or not) to be reloading behind my back.

I sincerely doubt there is a gun show insurance carrier in the country that would allow "on-site reloading". And if they did, premiums would be more atrocious than what they already are.

Just do like my friend did at Market Hall. Remove the magazine and chambered round outside and drop them into your pant pocket. As you leave the show quickly reinsert the mag and slam the slide home. You can put the last round in once you reach your vehicle. Tons of people are carrying a firearm as they leave the show, no one will notice.

At the last Market Hall show, I had just exited vendor door around 10:00 a.m. Sunday to get more stuff out of my truck when there was a gun shot in the parking lot near where I was parked (about 100 yards northeast of entrance). The gun shot scared off every grackel and pigeon in the vicinity.

I postponed my trip while a cop walked out to check it out. He came back a few minutes later, having found nothing. ' Hope it wasn't your friend.

wouldn't have to be a "sanctioned" area, just a *wink wink, nudge nudge* catty-corner.

at the last DMH Show, I left my rounds in the truck, but carried a speedloader, and some PeppaSpray with the hopes that the PeppaSpray would allow me time to get the speedloader out. not exactly "best case scenario" but as an old friend used to say, "Mejor que nada."
