Because in ATF logic, one is an electronic facsimile of the original, but the other is an electronic facsimile of the original.
I completely understand

It's easier to modify a .jpg/.png than it is a piece of paper...
That is easily defeated by any number of simple means, so not really. There are a number of programs and/or services that send faxes via a computer modem or through sending a scan of a document electronically to a company that will then send them via telephone. Furthermore, a document can be scanned, edited, printed, then faxed with the same result.
I can scan & edit a graphics file on my computer with no special services aside from the scanning software. To edit a paper fax, I have to convert it to a computer file first (not that this is very hard, but still more than editing a scan).
Besides, who wants to deal with a .tif if they can use a .jpg or .png?

Fax and emailed today, and a pre-pubecent sounding boy answered and said we can't get it to you until Monday. 26 bucks for overnight shipping, and you are lucky to get it in a week. I told them where to go, and will order elsewhere from now on.

What does "got confirmation" mean?
It does not sound like a "horrid" company to me. Sounds like a wrong fax number or miscommunication.
Confirmation means my fax reported they got it fine and they confirmed the fax number. Feel free to order from them and see what happens

I could go into details of how rude and couldn't give a flip the 13 year old boy was who answered. If it were not for a couple rules on here, I'd tell you what I really think.
These guys are trash.

Yes, but you can't scan them and send as an email attachment. Because in ATF logic, one is an electronic facsimile of the original, but the other is an electronic facsimile of the original.

The last 3 guns I bought I emailed the scanned FFL.

So you didn't comfirm with a person that the company got the fax. Your machines "confirmation" really means nothing.
And complaining about a 13 year old boy's attitude. Welcome to teenagers.
