Mike,
are you saying that some Taco Cabanas no longer have 30.06 postings?
According to standards that some have requested we can never know.(we aren't mindreaders and weren't part of the decision process that goes into these decisions. However according to emails and common statements from antis and sheeple. Taco Cabana and Katy Mills people are afraid that CHLers will suddenly pull a Cho and start emptying mags in the place, or that maybe a gun might jump out of a holster start killing and maiming on on its own. The truth is there is no rational reason for posting these signs. The signs are based on emotional reflexive response from someone whether it be managers, lawyers or owners. The only way these signs will ever come down is if some realizes that the signs might cost them money. Its one reason to trash them at any opportunity we can on the internet. When we just simply refuse to enter a Taco Cabana or * Mills Mall they don't know about the lost sales. They really hate finding that they have been trashed on the net. Especially when they are wrong. If they are real antis they won't change the sign for any reason, if someone just posted the sign because they got some bad advice the signs sometimes come down. Taco Cabana blinked.

No, you don't have a RTKBA on THIER property, sorry. And that does nothing to keep Peace Officers out.
Okay, poor choice of words. Let me rephrase. Why do they want me defenseless on their property? Why do they want me to not be able to defend myself on their property? What do they have against guns on their property?
Fair questions.
Also, it was my understanding on the thread referenced above that Taco Cabana has gone through legal channels to fobid ALL weapons on their property (including not peace officers themselves, but their weapons).
Nah, they can't make peace officer keep their weapons out.

The question asked and answered is, "why do they have 30.06 signs", and the answer is, "to keep people from carry their concealed handguns there". The answer as to why they don't want handguns is not available to me ;)
And just because I don't like or agree with it does not mean their decision is emotional or not based in fact or logic. That is an impossible claim to make, especially when I don't KNOW their reason.
We can speculate all day. To me, it is an exercise in futility.

yes we can speculate all day. But as I said:

Not asking for guesses. Thought maybe somebody somewhere on the net had got ahold of a news report, or statement or something of that effect that elaborated on it.

I emailed Katy Mills today.
I was curious as to an explanation of Katy Mills implementing the 30.06 signs on the entrances to ban concealed handgun licensee's. As someone who has undertaken 10 hours of shooting/safety for the CHL, paid hundreds for the license, and passed federal FBI backgournd checks to qualify...I am curious as to why you are the only mall in the Houston area that bans such citizens?

I can venture a safe bet that this is going to go the same way again as the discussion and the email/letter/calling campaign went with the Taco Cabana issue...
You'll get this nifty little letter from the "Executive Assistant to the "I don't give a [expletive deleted]" Manager of Public Relations and Human Resources" simply stating:
That due to some insurance issues and in the interest of public safety and liability to us if we allow people like you with guns into our properties would introduce an intangible intangibility into an otherwise "safe" shopping environment...
That'll be about that...

Actually, notice I didn't ask about WHY they didn't want guns in. I explained my position, never saying their policy would prevent ME from going there.

You quoted Txinvestigator above, then list him as someone who cares?
Doug.38PR wrote:Because they don't want you to carry a gun in there. Period
I know that. The question is, why don't they want me to carry a gun there?
You would have to ask them, but I doubt it.
Well judging from their responses to letters posted on another thread in this same forum, I wouldn't expect them to be entirely forthcoming in a letter to me except to say: "We don't believe this to be in our customer's best interest and safety. Taco/Mills is a place for families. bull bull bull bull bull....a little more bull bull bull....thank you for your interest and I'm sorry if this affects your using our business"
Who knows, who cares? If you don't want to ever go anywhere without your handgun, then shop and eat elsewhere.
Well, letseee, 1) I care, 2) txinvestigator cares:
http://www.texasshooting.com/TexasCHL_F ... php?t=6888 3) as to a whole lot of other people as demonstrated in that same double digit paged thread. The fact that they are needlessly refusing to allow me (and others) the RTKBA on their property (including peace officers) by going out of their way to put up a large and noticable sign that the law requires them to have in order to accompish this isn't an accident. What's the story?
I do shop and eat elsewhere. Everyone on this board says this and does this. I never go to Katy Mills Mall or Taco Cabana. That is not the point of this thread.
I say again:
Why do these companies have 30.06 on their businesses?

Why go to a mall anymore when you can get everything online from the comfort of your own home?( and not pay sales tax

) You couldnt pay me enough money to go near a shopping mall anymore!
Taco Cabana? What is the deal with this joint, I ate there and found it to be quite disgusting, plus the store was absolutely filthy - why is this place so popular?

I can think of two reasons. It's open after the bars close. College students need 4am fuel for all nighters.
I used to like breakfast at Two Pesos but they went downhill after the Taco Cabana lawsuits/sale.

You may still get a response, but it won't be any more satisfying to you.
I applaud your energy and drive, but they've heard from hundreds, probably thousands, of customers with your message.
The first rounds of this battle were fought years ago on Packing.org, when it was still the prime gathering spot for CHL'ers.
Every response contains the 'we believe it is in the best interest and safety of our customers to prohibit handguns'.
I would never discourage anyone from writing or emailing businesses that choose to post. But Mills Corp is never going to change their outlook. The possible sale that has been mentioned may be the only chance for something positive.

The best thing to do is to simply take your money elsewhere.
Since 30.06 is rather inconvenient, technical, and ugly (would you want a big sign with legal jargon all over the storefront that you paid a designer to arrange?), most Texas business owners/operators don't bother posting.
It's not like it's difficult in Texas to find a place to shop where you can carry your concealed weapon. There are better places for finding deals (Conroe outlets, anyone?) and better places for Tex-Mex (I'm thinking Lupe Tortilla and Pappasito's). I'll spend my money where I feel welcome.

The Taco Cabana in Austin on Parmer Lane/Mopac has the same 8.5x11 30.06 sign. I have always used the drive through until last week...I had a huge order for me and some co-workers and wanted to be sure they got it right, so I went inside. I was was turned off by the sign, even though it's not legit.
What really turned me off was the condition of the kitchen...It was filthy!!! Turns my stomach to think how many times I rolled through the drive through not knowing how nasty their kitchen is....So now I have two good reasons to get my Tex-Mex elsewhere...
