Yeah, and I guess since the general consensus is a sincere sentiment to the family in regards to this tragedy...txinvestigator wrote:Wow. No one on this forrum knows any more about this than what has been in the media, and that is not much.
The speculation has been across the board about accidental, to suicide as to the cause of the death...
We have a lot of intuitive and knowledgeable people in this forum that create great discussions about a wide variety of subject matter...
And reading between the lines of horrible media coverage is somewhat of a gift some have around here as well...
Who knows, maybe we will actually hear what the real story is eventually, and those that are wrong will certainly not be demagogued by me...And those that are right...Well...Feather in yer cap I suppose in this case...
I dunno, maybe we should talk about stuff like this...What do you think???

It's fine to talk about it if the purpose of the discussion is to share information and come to a definitive conclusion about what happened. The problem is, as TXI pointed out, we don't have any information!!!
The man's body was barely cold when people who don't know him from a hill of beans chimed in with statements similar to "You know, the guy was in a shooting last year that shook him up...I'll bet he staged his suicide to look like an accident for the insurance money" And then there was the, "lay off the Miami Vice / CSI: Miami," leap to suggest it was a staged gang or drug dealer assassination.
What we do know is it's an apparently tragic incident for the officer's family. The officer was found deceased by his family, with a GSW to the chest that may or may not have been self-inflicted but the current indications are it was self-inflicted. Additionally, there were two or more firearms (no specific number has been published) in the kitchen along with item commonly used to clean said firearms.
As a matter of circumstance, this officer was involved in a shooting last year and one person claims that he indicated the shooting "shook him up" at that time. Outside of this, no one has made a statement that suggests emotional distress relating to his family, career, finances health or anything else that might point to a suicide. Like many police officers involved in criminal investigations, we also know this officer has provided court testimony that led to criminal convictions of multiple offenders. Some of those offenders were gang members and some were drug dealers. This is not at all unusual and rarely is it something that leads to an officer’s death by assassination.
Now, if one or more of you happens to know this officer, his family or you were working the scene, by all means tell us what you can without compromising the investigation. I personally recognized a friend in news footage of the scene. But, I have yet to talk to that friend and don't expect he'll divulge much info right now out of respect for the officer and his family.

When you take the time out of your day to beat someone, it has a much longer lasting effect on their demeanor than simply shooting or tazing them.
