$30 seems awfully cheap. Did you tell them it was a handgun? I would have expected $40-$50.

And you got it shipped on Saturday?

Fedex and UPS outlets like Kinko's and Office Depot are not allowed to accept firearms.

Just curious.
Bursa pays for the fedx shipping on the way back to me only.

They told me I would the gun back a week from Monday

Good luck with this.

I suggest some reading here in the forum about shipping handguns.

If it gets to Bersa without some mid-management type flagging it, you'll probably be ok. As seamus said, don't say too much about this, since you broke some rules.

You're not the only one. I continue to see instructions to label it as 'machine parts'. As I said, if it were lost or damaged, you would have no claim.

Also, don't use 'John's Guns' as the addressee. IN the future, use something more cryptic, such as JG. You don't want to do anything to identify your shipment as a firearm.

What are you talking about?? If the gun manufacturers shipped the firearm to you by Fedex and there is never a problem coming downline, why would you think there would be a problem for an owner shipping it upline to them. I have shipped my firearm on 2 occasions by Fedex and have done it on a Saturday (they are open, Main staffed center) from 8am-5pm in my area. I just put the case in a Medium box and fill out the form, seal it, insure it and off it goes and received on that Monday. I was never asked what was in the box, only how much insurance do I want. I never had to write what was in the box either.
Then went they ship it back to me by the same Fedex, I never have to be home either, they just leave it on my porch. Maybe it just the area that I live in, but I don't get those pesky pink "see me at the post office" cards and sign it out. Never Had a problem with shipping my firearm by Fedex, fast and reliable. I would recommend it.
FedEx Express U.S. Terms and Conditions

FedEx Express will transport and deliver firearms as defined by the United States Gun Control Act of 1968, between areas served in the U.S., but only between:
Licensed importers; licensed manufacturers; licensed dealers; licensed collectors; law enforcement agencies of the U.S. or any department or agency thereof; and law enforcement agencies of any state or any department, agency or political subdivisions thereof; or
Where not prohibited by local, state and federal law, from individuals to licensed importers, licensed manufacturers or licensed dealers (and return of same).

Upon presenting the package for shipment, the person tendering the shipment to FedEx Express is required to notify FedEx Express that the package contains a firearm. The outside of the package must not be marked, labeled or otherwise identify that the package contains a firearm. The shipper and recipient must be of legal age as identified by applicable law.

I was assuming that he went to one of the outlets like Kinko's rather than an actual Fedex center. But that wasn't my main point.

From your quote on Fedex policy:

Firearms must be shipped via FedEx Priority Overnight service. FedEx Express cannot ship or deliver firearms C.O.D. Firearms shipments cannot be placed in a FedEx Express Drop Box.
Upon presenting the package for shipment, the person tendering the shipment to FedEx Express is required to notify FedEx Express that the package contains a firearm.

Fedex policy requires Priority Overnight and the $30 seemed cheap for that service.

Fedex policy requires notification that the package contains a firearm.

Not following these requirements would certainly be grounds for them to deny any claim that might arise.

I have no concerns on shipment ........ Thanks for the posts Mike 1951 and Luck45.

Let us get back to my original question in the thread-

Has anyone else sent a Bursa Thunder 380 for feeding problems and got it back repaired?

I own two Bersa .380 Thunders and a Conceal Carry version. I gave them a fluff and buff when I bought them and I clean them regularly. Have never had a problem with any of them and am well over 500+ in each one.

I received my wife's Bursa 380 back from the shop and hope to shoot it this week. I was told that he polished the feed ramp but could find no problems and it did not FTl for him. Of course, he will shoot more that 3 rounds if you send him money for ammo. Also, the gunsmith said it was shooter error by not holding the gun tight enough. I question this as a cause because I made sure that I had a firm grip and no limp wristing. I will see how it shoots and report back.

Not real impressed with Bursa Customer service.....but will hold back final opinion after taking it to the range

Failure to follow UPS or FEDEX rules is NOT an offense of any kind - failure to declare to UPS or FEDEX that it is a firearm IS a federal offense. End result is the same.

Told the wife she needs a new gun ;-)
