You're welcome.

Many women prefer ladies-only classes, but I have to say ElGato is good with the ladies. My wife has shot with him and the women who take his CHL course always seem to enjoy it. Texas City would be a bit of a drive for you, though (upwards of an hour).

I would have listed Charles and Marc and Gary Newton and Hardly Angels and.... you see were I'm going?

I started with CompVest because women often learn best from other women and couldn't list her and NOT list SRVA (I want to grow up to be SRVA) and then rounded out with ElGato as he reminds me of my grandpa who taught me my basic gun handling.

But now that I think about it, Charles would have been a real good suggestion from the start.....Sure wouldn't want any entry errors on my IDPA scores :willynilly:

If your budget allows, Sringfield Armory EMP seems to be the best all around lady's gun. Easy to conceal, easy to shoot.

The Taurus 9mm Mil Pros are good cheap guns for limited use. The second generation is DAO on the trigger, OK for somebody who doesn't need or want the shooting skills of Jerry Miculek. The DAO helps in preventing accidental hair trigger discharges. Trigger action is not too long like the S&W Sigma, nor too stiff once broken in. There is also a frame mounted trigger block safety. The third generation is DA/SA. Avoid the first gens.Taurus really has a well engineered little belly gun in the Mil Pro. Tight fit and finish, lightweight. It just never seemed to catch on well.

Chas.
Take Charles up on this. He did this for my wife and it really helped her to make a decision on her pistol.

She thought that she had found the right one by going to a gun show and holding them. However, once she shot the one that she thought she wanted, she decided that she didn't like it.

Charles also does a fantastic job of asking the right questions.

Now that I think about it.....

There is a scheduled PSC-IDPA match this Saturday (Dec 22nd) morning and Charles, CompVest, and SRVA will be there and ElGato might be as well. Plus just about every IDPA shooter is happy to let you try out their favorite gun so......

I just have to ask how many gun choices can Charles offer? Oh, to answer my own question, as many as there are different sizes and calibers of 1911's.

My wife and I will be interested in the answer to that question, as well.

I still haven't figured out what my carry gun will be. The three currently under consideration are CZ, Baby Desert Eagle and Kimber.

Do you mean a cz-52?

Specific models are still TBD. I'll be looking at 9mm and .45 models, probably compact or semi-compact -- but it'll all depend on what I can find to shoot and how much my love handles interfere with carrying it/them.

My wife is very petite and every time I have suggested she get a small frame weapon (with the exception of the p232) she gets mad at me. She really like the government/champion sized 1911's and the full-size glock.

Indeed. I know Venus Pax carries a 1911, and she conceals it very well. There's also the Hi-Power (sorry, have a personal bias ;-) ), which has the slimness of a 1911 but is capable of 15+1. It is a slim double stack, and the grip is a little thicker than a 1911. Range time is cheaper because it's 9mm!
