Very nice Frankie!

The trigger gets even better with use, I think you'll really enjoy it.

Tip: The "Carry" models tend to like a lot of lubrication...just so you'll know.

Here is what it looks like in black (and 9mm).

Got about 1300 bobble free rounds through it now, daughter loves it.

Have fun with yours.

For a holster, I'm leaning towards one of the ones listed below.

Bianchi Model 100 Professional. Not sure if this one has a reinforced insert for eash reholstering. Also, it is for the Officer's Model, which means it is a little bigger than it needs to be for the 3" Para. http://www.bianchi-intl.com/product/Pro ... odelID=100

Bianchi Model 3S. This one does have the internal reinforcement. I have one for my SP101 that works great, after I cut the thumb break off. The only thing about this one is that it is listed with the same catalog number for both the Commander version and the Officer's Model. So it is probably bigger than it needs to be for the Para. http://www.bianchi-intl.com/product/Pro ... ModelID=3S

Then there's the Milt SParks Executive Companion model. This one has the insert for reholstering. From the website, it looks like these holsters are made to order, so it should be just the right size for the gun. The drawback is that their backlog is currently running 26 weeks! I don't know if I want to carry Mexican style for 6 months. http://www.miltsparks.com/

Rosen's ARG DL looks pretty good, but is a little pricey at $170. Also, the blurb says that it fits "1911 and most medium to large frame autos", so it might not fit the small Para correctly. http://www.mitchrosen.com/product_line/ ... _line.html

Does anybody use one of the above for a compact 1911 style gun? Or if not, what do you all compact 1911 people use for carrying concealed? The Sparks model would be nice but 6 months is just too long for me to wait.

Great looking gun!!

I have the Carry 9, and I'm using the K&D Eagle Defender for OWB, and the Comp-Tac Minotaur for IWB. The Comp-Tac was delivered in about 10 days, and I believe the K&D is currently running about 14 weeks. Look at the Galco Matrix.... it's a snap on slide that I used while waiting for the K&D... and it did very well!!!

frankie_the_yankee wrote:I just discovered I'm getting a compact Para LDA for Christmas. A couple of weeks ago I was in McBride's Gun Shop in Austin picking up a gold eagle coin for my granddaughter. After buying the coin, I walked over into the gun room and looked over a 3" LDA model that I had been eyeballing for a few months. The clerk handed it over and after asking if it was OK I dry fired it. Naturally, it had the SWEET trigger action of all LDA's. I came within an inch of flipping the credit card on the counter and buying it, but in the end I handed it back.

When I got home I mentioned to my wife and son (who just finished his CHL class) that I was checking out the gun and that it would make a fine carry gun. My wife reminded me that we were putting out a lot of money in Christmas presents and that we needed to keep the budget under control. Besides, she said, I already have plenty of guns.

So yesterday I was in McBride's again on my lunch break picking up some coins for my son. Again I walked into the gun room. But this time the little Para was gone. I asked the clerk if it had sold and he said it must have because it wasn't there in the case. I smiled to myself and told him I bet I knew the person who bought it.

When I got back to my office I logged in to my credit card account. Sure enough, there was a charge to McBride's for $810 made on 12/11/2007. Merry Christmas Frankie, Ho.. Ho..Ho....

She complains a lot but she's a good woman.

I wonder if she got me a holster too.

Ahh, you spoiled her surprise. For shame.... :nono:

I ended up ordering a Galco Royal Guard.

http://www.usgalco.com/HolsterT3Options.asp

They had them in stock for 3" 1911 type guns, which was a big plus. I hope the rough side out leather isn't too bad for days where I'm not wearing an undershirt.

Now I just gotta get me a couple of mags.
