Congrats! You will love that pistol. The other handguns in your safe will collect dust. I bought the first of my four 1911s in '75. I still have it, shoot it, and love it! Oh, and most importantly, I trust them.

Never seen a Roscoe myself. When I was a broke college freshman I will admit to owning a Lorcin. It was so cheap I was afraid to fire it. I ended up using a file to chop it into several peices and tossing it in the trash.

Re: 1911 - Springfield or Kimber? (flpickupman) 12:08 PM 7/24/2005
I love my Springfield, My son bought the Kimber and it is a fine gun. He got the "Custom" which is thier base model. I got the "Loaded" model and I paid less.
I have shot thousands of rounds through my Springfield. Once I got some bad ammo and broke a hammer strut. Springfield fixed it and had it back to me free of charge in 10 days with an offer to reimberse me for the shipping I paid. Last year at the Single stack classic in Barry Il. my ejector malfunctioned , after 4 years and thousands of rounds, Springfield was on hand and the head of thier custom shop took my gun all apart right there and fixed the ejector and even replaced some other parts he said were worn, he took the parts off of a $1000. custom gun he had brought.
When I first got the gun I didn't know how to take it apart. Springfield made an appointment with me to meet at the NRA show and they took me in another room and showed me how.
Now I think Kimber makes a fine gun. My son has not had any trouble with his.
The local guns store where I work part time sent the top of a stainless Kimber back to Kimber because the front sight fell out. 8 weeks later we got it back. We had to pay the shipping.
Do your self a favor and buy the Springfield. YOU won't be sorry.
